Daily U.S. Casualties 9/1/2003
As of Sunday, 282 U.S. soldiers have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the Department of Defense.
The British government has reported 49 deaths. Denmark's military has reported one death.
On or since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 144 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq, ac cording to the latest Department of Defense figures.
The latest casualties reported by the U.S. military:
U.S. Central Command announced that a soldier drowned Friday when his Humvee plunged into a canal during preparations for a raid on the outskirts of al-Abbarah, 50 miles north of Baghdad. There were no new identifications reported by the U.S. military on Sunday.
