DUers: keep the faith - we're being freeped
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 12:40 PM by Q

- Things will settle down...and then we can have a rational discussion.

- Until then...read the threads of 'certain' posters with a grain of salt.

There are some longtime moles here. I got a vulgar pm from one last night exulting in a Bush victory, and in having fooled us. His account's since been deleted.

Disturbing. Not the betrayal so much as how twisted it is to play such a game for so long.

97. Longtime "secret" trolls remind me of Woody Allen's "Love and Death",
where his character's Dad was a crazy old Russian peasant whose "plot of land" was a little square of dirt he carried around with him, where he'd placed a little model farmhouse and some cattle etc.

"Well at least you didn't waste your life or anything!"

That moran won't be laughing when beezlebush's diseased chickens come home to roost. Beezlebush's re-election reminds of that horror flick where the girl learns the sicko is not outside but inside the house. Idiotic repressed repukes like seventhson obsessed about sucking c**k obviously missed that flick.

73. There were some ugly threads a week or so ago
in which some rumors of an attack on an American city were being discussed. I participated in it, along with a few people on this current thread. For the most part, I thought it was strange, in that sangh0 was attempting to follow a rumor to its source. But it seemed difficult to do.

The human being that is being discussed had posted a few curious things, about being the son of a "nazi-hunter" who operated in Germany and Latin America. And about being an attorney who worked on COINTELPRO cases.

I knew he was full of baloney. I asked him to name three cases he worked on; he couldn't, of course. He went into a feeble excuse about wanting to remain anonymous. Get out of here with that weak shit. I didn't ask his name. Just name a case.

I think it caused some hard feelings with some people. In fact, I know it did, because I got a number of e-mails from folks who either agreed with me, or were angry to extremely angry with me. Some people felt that I was the one "disrupting." I was told that I had been disrespectful to that individual.

My opinions may well be different than others on here. But that is usually a good thing. I can discuss any number of issues with Minstrel Boy, and probably disagree on half, but there isn't a problem between us. The other human being began to try to create problems. And to an extent, he was able to.

DU is a good forum, that at times promotes serious, high quality work. So of course there are going to be disrupters. There are always hunters in the jungle. Sometimes there are also those who hunt the hunters.

107. Don't feel foolish ....
He told the lies. He owns them.

By nature, people see the world through the filter of their own being: honest people tend to see life in trustworthy terms; paranoid people see the world as layers of plots; angry people view the world as destructive and violent; and hopeful people view this world in hopeful ways. So if you believe people to be honest by nature, that merely means you are honest by nature.

When we view life from our natural being, however, we tend to be subjective rather than objective. And so at times we need to step outside the frame to get an accurate view of the big picture. That can take experience, even formal training. I have had the pleasure of doing forensic psychiatric social work, and keep track of how certain people interact.

This fellow enjoyed stirring the pot and creating tension and division. I have had the opportunity to know people who had parents who survived the nazi's; they do not tend to use that heirloom cheaply. And, again, I could challenge him on the COINTELPRO business. (It stuck out like a sore thumb that he couldn't spell COINTELPRO correctly in repeated attempts.) His reactions to my challenge were those of a flustered lying snake. What was sad was that people believed him, and wrote some vicious things to me. But again, he owns his lies. I hold no hard feelings towards those he fooled.

6. You're right...and it's not just 'paranoia'...
- The lines are being drawn. Some are trying to divide us or convince us that our values have been wrong all along.

- Our country hasn't become 'conservative' as the pundits are saying. It's that half ( or more of America) has had their voice taken away by fanatics and despots.

13. Well, I'm new and you can call me a freeper if you like, but
I do believe our nation has become that conservative. I don't see how anyone who is not in their own little liberal bubble cannot see that. And we need to recoginze that fact and engage in some serious self-criticism, otherwise we won't be able to fix the problem of this political and cultural right-wing juggernaut if we keep denying the problem exists.

The conservatives realized the country was too liberal for their tastes and organized for over 30 years to change that. We need to take a page from their book and brace oursleves for a long war to win the hearts and minds of the people and build organizational strength-- not just mobilize every 4 years for a big election. Our voter turnout is better than theirs-- that's not the problem. The problem is they understand long-term organizing strategy and too many Democrats and other progressives don't.

14. Your words speak for themselves...
...so I won't call you a freeper.

- How in the hell could you presume to know what our nation has become when we never hear from a MAJORITY of the people? THEY don't have a voice.

- I don't accept that our nation has become conservative. I believe what has happened is that he who owns the most gold makes the rules. And that he who owns the most printing presses determines 'truth'.

Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 01:08 PM by Nicky Scarfo
and let this country be overrun by the fascists. Look, I'm a union rep and I travel all over the country. Our union is very progressive and anti-Bush, and yet I meet members all the time who think Bush is some sort of great guy. And these are Northern union members! Why do they think he's so great? Because they want a strong leader, they support the war, and many are socially conservative.

Now these people are a minority in our union, but only because our union goes to great lengths to politically educate people and make them feel like part of a progressive organization and culture. But how do you think these plays out with the majority of non-union folks in this country-- people with absolutely no connection to progressive culture, organizations, institutions and structures? For many people the only local organization they are part of is their church-- most of which are reactionary.

I could cite election results increasing going to Republicans (and increasingly ideologically reactionary Republicans at that) over the years, but why bother trying to dredge up hard numbers for you to "prove" the country is becoming more conservative. As Bob Dylan said: "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows".

And I'm sorry your comrade betrayed you, but I'm not a Freeper just because you don't like what I have to say.

They have been deluded by his P.T. Barnum imitation.. and you must admit... he is good at spinning his yarns far and wide. He does have a talent for convincing people that what he thinks and says makes sense. I for one am not easily duped.

28. Oh yeah, Bush should win an Oscar for his working-class "good ole boy"
performance. But the Repugs and right-wingers have so thouroughly penetrated and corrupted working-class culture that it allows people to buy into this garbage more readily. Their control of the media just makes matters worse. This didn't happen overnight and it didn't start with Bush's Oscar-worthy performance.

99. Spot On.
You're not a freeper, you're being intellectually honest.

I live and grew up in a formerly unionized, red, God, Flag, Meat & Patatas town. And what you're saying is exactly right.

I don't think it's about changing our message, I think it's about getting our message out with more credibility. It's very odd, but we really don't have the voice yet, that FOX or Rush/Hannity have.

That's where we have to pick up the most ground in the next four years. Hopefully AAR will get there, but I don't know if AAR itself will be enough.

56. But those who didn't vote are now complicit in the Bush regime
especially those in any state that could remotely be described as winnable for the Democrats.

I have changed from regarding a Republican as either a fool or a crypto-fascist, to regarding anyone who didn't vote Democratic as being one of those two.

Nearly everyone has access to TV or radio news in some form. They knew what not voting could do to the USA.

87. Yes, but N.S. has a good point...
...conservatives took the long-term view, and worked steadily for thirty years to acheive their goals. It seems that we, on the other hand, live from presidential election to presidential election, looking for a quick fix that will erase all our problems by putting anyone "electable" with a (D) label into the White House. And that's a recipie for short-term frustration and long-term irrelevance.

44. Well, if 25% are the only ones who give a fuck, then we're in trouble
all the same. My point is we've got a big problem in that the conservative culture is winning out over the progressive culture in terms of political power. I don't care about numbers, I care about results. Either we get the other 50% of the country to identify with progressive values, or we start picking off people from the 25%.

Either way, we need to get our shit together and get to work and stop blaming people. The conservatives have a strong popular base (even if it is only 25%), and that didn't happen overnight. It took 40+ years of long-term strategic organizing to get there, and we could do it too if enough people got their heads out of their asses and stop looking for the quick fix, just expecting every 4 years with the proper campaigning and get-out-the-vote work that we can roll back 40 years of reactionary organizational work and progressive organizational failure. Get fucking real, people.

They voted for him because they're frightened over the terrorism boogie-man. A little common sense, backbone, and realism would have had those folks going Kerry.

104. Seventhson
actually gave me the phone number of his sister who worked to get folks on the radio during the democratic convention when I was there..

She called me and apologised for not getting me on any of the shows there in time, was interested in Voting machine problems and sent me to many good sites on the subject, very helpful actually..

I was so surprised when I got his nasty email that I thougt someone had hacked the mail system here and sent me a freeper note through his name..

but I guess with everyone else getting it then it must be true, but I am puzzled - he actually did impart some historical links to me about jews who had fought to get out of the country and against the Nazis..

I actually thought we had a relationship going, that he as intelligent and reachable, but then got the "suck aids dicks and die" PM.. too bad, if he channeled the right personality he would probably be an interesting and crossover pal..

but not with little love notes like the one he sent.

hard to imagine someone with the potential for a personality and then they come across like a psychotic 8 year old.

shame. I sort of liked the guy in a way, thought he had brains.. I mean, the whole point of free speech and being an american, a true american is that you can disagree with someone and still have a beer with them and some ribs..

but he came off as someone that would rape my dog in the end.. why can't they channel the correct part of their brain?

with the potential for a personality and then they come across like a psychotic 8 year old."

Exactly.

seventhson, I'd thought, was histrionic and eccentric, but not duplicitous. Still, more disturbing, is that the face he finally revealed was so vulgar, hate-filled and childish. It was as though a young sociopath had been masquerading as an adult.

Well, he fooled me. But so be it. I'd rather be fooled occassionally than presume the worst of people here. However I will be turning up the discernment knob to 11.

126. He gave me some good, thoughtful advice on a personal
matter - he seemed human, although I completely detested his posts on a variety of topics. Maybe he is insane?

I believe he had a major blow out at CG before he came here but I don't know what it was about.

Thought all of them were clueless and were obsessive compulsive enough to waste their time doing this shit.

I tried going undercover on a RW site and got bored with it after about five posts.

129. I think there are more here...
I'm noticing some becoming more bold in their posts... they'll lose interest soon.

112. I find myself going "WTF" more often lately...
...but this, like all things, shall pass.

The reality of the price tag attached to BC04 will soon set in.

We're all equally screwed, red and blue states.

And a special "word up" to my misguided homies hanging out from FreeRepublic: he was born in CONNECTICUT, not Texas. The accent's fake, and he's AFRAID OF HORSES.

113. When I went on that conservative site over Marie 333, there
were some braggin about having over 1000 posts and being freepers and then we noticed screen shots of our discussions. I knew we had moles. What a bunch of morans ! They got their man in and spent a lot of time sucking up to us. Again they proved dividers and not uniters. I love the thread with our names on it. I have been open in my name a long long time. I think its good for the mods sake that they all know that we are introducing ourselves and all one has to do is google your name and found out who has been speakin out against this administration for a long time ! Suspect there were 10 or 12 moles on here but the True DUers do't need to be moles, we don't need secret bunkers. We are proud to be dems and proud to be Americans. We don't have to play 007. We are in the light ! I hope all of you moles think we are going to shut up and you accomplished something. Guess what? You just brought Hell on yourselves ! My first question to anyone that complains to me about losing a job or healthcares costs..Is Did you vote Bush? If they say yes, I will just say, Sorry, you brought this on yourself, Deal with it and talk to your preacher ! Don't talk to me.

the fact that they are going down with the rest of us.
They will NOT escape what is coming from this
administration. They will drown in the very cesspool that
they themselves created. Unfortunately, the rest of us
will too, but at least we knew. At least we tried to warn
them, which makes us the good and decent people.
Seventhson, if you are still reading at DU, I pity you
because you are not only a pathetic soul, but obviously
also not too intelligent. You have spent so much time
here and learned NOTHING.

let them know we were standing front and center. We are here and we were going to TAKE IT BACK ! One way or another ! They have brought their own destruction on themselves but we have stood firm and I actually think they don't want a president smarter than they are. I do. I want a leader smarter than me. I think that is what is different about all of us. A leader has to have more insight that the uniformed and media fed voters. Intelligence., Something that On November 2nd showed instead of red states should have been color us STUPID ! I do wish they would change that map as there were plenty of good people who voted for change and they got colored red too.
