2. They were trying to get the South. Problem is the South is not getable.
The South WANTS the end of federalism. They're going to get it.

I didn't hear or see anything about Kucinich helping much either. Please inform me if I'm wrong.

17. Kucinich was told to stay in the background, and turn his supporters to
Kerry, which he did.

So, you're now informed.

What makes me think what' you'll do with that is more sneering about Kucinich and his supporters?

I watched Dennis on DemocracyNOW! this morning, and Dennis was the ONLY ONE speaking up about continuuing the fight against the election fraud.

So, you are now informed.

5. Because Kucinich was unpopular with middle America. He's far left.
As evidenced by the fact that he lost his place in Congress, I believe?

8. He won his seat
by 60% or something like that. He was out there fighting for Kerry it is just that most people have never taken him seriously in the media so how would you ever know if you were not keyed into Kucinich? He was there AND he won his seat. I think I should stop now.

22. With respect, I don't think you "should stop now"
If we are to ever have any chance of pulling this country out of this hole, I think it's high time that we start demanding apologies for all these attacks and slurs directed at our candidate, and us.

Enough is enough.

Just like the Dem party itself, we tried to be nice, and all that gets is derision from our "fellow Dems".

Enough is enough.

Apologies need to be extended.

10. He won re-election with over 60% of the vote.
And his seat is right in the middle of "middle America" -- Cleveland, OH.

Y'know, Texas Sissy -- the funny thing is that when I used to be in the military and talked with RWers who followed politics, they said almost to a person that Kucinich was the one who made the most sense to them out of the ENTIRE crop of Presidential Candidates.

Please tell me how that supports your narrow categorization of him as "far left".

25. Kucinich was talking about jobs in tangible ways.
He wasn't mincing words and he really beieved what he was saying. It wasn't just a bunch of mush.

I really intend to read Thomas Franks' "What's the Matter with Kansas." It is supposed to be about how we can reach ordinary Americans who are moderate to conservative culturally, and from the reviews, he may be advocating much of Kucinich was saying. Perhaps we should all take a look at it.

27. The Kucinich forum had more than a few RW and Libertarians stay around
Some otherwise very conservative people were mainly attracted by his strong anti-NAFTA stand, disagreeing with him about most other things. Quite a few Libertarians, 2nd Amendment defenders et al. were impressed with his firm stance against the PATRIOT Act. They tended to come out on top in arguments against gun control, and to lose the ones on universal health care.

Don't know if he could have succeeded against the slime machine either, but one thing we now know is that there is no such thing as a Dem candidate who is immune to it.

Dennis won by ~60% and maybe he was busy with his own message. He endorsed Kerry. What else was he supposed to do?

Too progressive? NEVER!

When are you going to stop with your divisive attacks???? That's all I ever see you post.

He had a reelection campaign to win, and HE DID.

Now, how about an apology for a change?

14. As a Kucinich supporter in the primaries, I can tell you stories
about how he was consistently marginalized in the media. The Minnesota volunteers had to nag the local media into covering his visits, even though he drew crowds of up to 2,000 with very little publicity.

The New York Times was one of the worst offenders. They could print a full-page article outlining the health care plans of Dean, Kerry, Gephardt, Edwards, and Clark in great detail and dismiss Dennis' plan--the only one that was really different from the rest--in a single sentence. They could print a full-page article on the positions of Dean, Kerry, Gephardt, Edwards, and Clark concerning Iraq, and again, dismiss Dennis in a single sentence.

This was before the Iowa caucuses, before a single real voter had expressed a presence. Compared to DK, Dean was a media darling throughout the summer of 2003.

DK pledged to support the Dem nominee, and he did. But who in the mainstream media would tell you that he was doing so?

20. You're right, Lydia.....
And who, even at DU, would even tell you he was doing so?

And this is the "Help And Support" forum........

This is why the Dem party has died, and why it deserved to do so.

30. We DK supporters carry on unfettered.
It's always been about the issues. Yes, it's been a tough couple days. Not doubt I wanted * to lose. But we believed in DK because we believe in issues. Therefore, we get in the morning, put our working clothes on, and continue.

21. oh so you ask now?
kucinich and his supporters were ridiculed by the media and an awful lot of people here on du. people here chastised him for continuing his candidacy all the way until the convention, even though he did as he promised and campaigned for kerry. all i can say now is be thankful there's at least one progressive democrat in congress because if you thought democrats rolled over in the past four years i don't see it getting any better.

23. No, it definitly isn't getting "better".... Kerry just said something
about "bipartisan unity". You know what that means.

Yup, the Dems go even further to the right. And, he will get his followers to do just that.

There are those who joined this thread just to mock. It's time we stand up to that.

I'm with ya....

24. continuing his candidacy all the way until the convention
and it was before this very same convention that I sent my last contribution in for president - it went to DK.

I tried to get a Kerry bumper sticker via Kerry's website and it never arrived. However, I did get 2 posters from DK after the convention.

Seems his campaign office has it together a tad bit better to say the least.

I'll be a Kucinich supporter until the very end. He is the only one that tells the truth IMO and the only one worth truly voting for.

Granted I towed the line and voted the ticket and also took a lot of criticism for being a DK supporter up until the very end. It wasn't easy then but suddenly it is a whole lot easier now! :D

KUCINICH 2008!

29. Kerry forgot to mention him in one of his speeches...
Can't remember exactly which speech, but it was a very prominent one on television -- after he had won the nomination. He thanked every Democractic candidate that had run but left out Kucinich.

Sad.

More people like Dennis Kucinich are what this PARTY and this country needs.

31. Kucinich is a hero
I love the man. I voted for him in the primaries here in CA.

I think in a general election the dumb-dumb voters and the RW media scum would have a field day taunting him about his vegetarianism.
Not too many folks with as much principle as D.K.
