Suggestions for liberal relocation resources
A friend has had it with Ohio (we both grew up there). He wants to relocate. I'm trying to push for out of the country (I told him staying and fighting is for those of us without kids), and he's certainly for it, but he doesn't think his wife will be willing to.

He asked me if there are any resources for choosing a liberal place to live in America and around the world. I'm going to go Google it, but I thought I'd also post here, just in case such sites are already well known.

I do know about the Escape from America site already, and I am sending him that link. Anything else would be gratefully received.

1. This is exactly what the radical right wants you to do . . .
...leave the country so they can over take it without a fight. My grandmother use to have a saying: "Don't cut off your nose to spite your face."

Not that I haven't thought of it too, though!

3. This is Germany 1930s
Lots of people stayed then for the reason you cite above and didn't live to see the end of fascism in their country. Even the ones who did survive didn't succeed in stopping it. It took the other countries of the world to do it; the Resistance couldn't do it alone, and the Allies could have done it without the Resistance, heroic though they were. Realism is what differentiates us from the Republicans.

As I said, staying and fighting is an option for those of us without kids. I'm going to do my best to get my friend's two kids out of harm's way.

5. Don't leave the country
I would suggest we all congregate here in California and call it our own.

7. There's lots of Republicans in California!
The cities are liberal, but I'm told that outside of them, everyone is very conservative. I grant I haven't been in California enough to know myself. (I've only visited.)

I really do want to leave the country, but I feel my friends with kids should do so. I don't want them in the neocons war machine.

6. how are we gonna recapture our country by moving out red states?????
if all 150 mill forward-thinking voters concentrate in Cali, we're done! We will take back Ohio, and state by state we'll take back this country. I don't care what the news is, I do NOT want here NO defeatism. We're no different than we were yesterday. We'll fight till the end!!

8. My friend says he's sick of the atmosphere
He's sick of fundamentalists and people who don't engage in critical thinking. That's not the environment he wants for his kids or himself.
