This talk about leaving the USA...
Do you really believe you are going to be safe in any other country? You will be no more secure than the French believed they were when Germany lost its collective mind.
This is where you have to make your stand. Here and now. THERE IS NO PLACE YOU CAN HIDE. Let me repeat that. THERE IS NO PLACE TO HIDE.
Keep in mind that the Patriots that started this great nation were a minority.
Persevere.

1. I don't blame anyone if they leave.
When I was growing up, I knew Jewish people who had escaped the Holocaust by leaving Europe just in the nick of time, and people who escaped Communist dictatorships in Eastern Europe. I don't blame anyone who avails themselves of other options than living in the U.S. right now, particularly if they are gay or work in scientific research or the arts.

2. As bad as it is, it is worse for gay people
even in close states, anti-gay issues passed by heavy margins. Clearly this country will not be hospitable to gays and lesbians for at least a generation.

This morning, this middle aged man and his partner are asking, "why should we stay?"

4. Same here
My partner and I are wondering the same thing. IF this crook does win (FIGHT, JOHN, FIGHT!), it will be only a matter of time before the FMA is reintroduced and passed and Lawrence v. Texas is overturned. If they think they will cart me off in a cattle car, they have another thing coming!

6. Bush is just a symptom
of the many reasons to abandon this country. It's not about increasing survival chances, it's about breathing air that is not soiled by the collective farting of a quarter-billion fat freedom-fry-scarfing fundamentalist freeptards.
