People, The Republicans Survived FDR, LBJ and Richard Nixon
and came back stronger. Regardless of tonight's outcome, the pendulum WILL swing. If indeed, we are going down a path of despair, we will be able to change the course.

This election is incredibly close. We know what we have to do. We have to buck up and start at the state level.

We also have to recognize that the half or so of the country that voted for Bush are our fellow Americans, they're not all raving lunatics or Neandrathals. Of course, THEY have to recognize the same thing or we win even sooner.

Personally, I am going to be spending a lot less money over the next four years.

4. I've buried 3 relatives this year; its not over until Kerry is President.
We're not "picking up the pieces" until AFTER we've wiped the floor with the Republicans, and if you don't think we did it this election, you weren't paying attention. The stuff coming back as "results" is CRAP. Let the lawyers at 'em. :)

5. I am not optimistic....face it the US is a right wing
materialistic country. We are more concerned about Paris Hilton, Donald Trump and other rich folk than about the affairs of the world.

No, the pendulum may not swing back in my lifetime. I think we have not even gone as far right as we will as a country.

Justice Rehnquist is very ill. Now that Bush is in for a second term he will appoint many judges. The Dems, sensing a "mandate" will approve and approve and approve those right wing judges all in the name of "healing" following a heated campaign.

Yes, it is 2000 all over again. I really don't think the Dems have grown a backbone in four years.

Let's see what they do when Bushie wants to go into Iran.

9. Sure
As a country the US will survive, but how many will lose their lives and their freedom before the pendulum swings.

Would you care to guess at the number of coffins that will be coming back from the Middle East, or how many here at DU will be arrested when Patriot Act II is made the law of the land.

How many gays and lesbians will be persecuted because of their life style, with no hope of any kind of protection under the law, how many
poor will die from starvation, how many more of the elderly will have to make a choice between food and life saving medication.

That half that voted for Bush are fanatics, lunatics, rednecks and Neandrathals, and I don't consider any of them fellow Americans. When it came to the choice of freedom over facism they chose facism,
they now are the enemy, and there is only one way to deal with an enemy.

They don't have to recognize anything, and they won't.
