I've been pretty quiet tonight but now I have to speak up
and say something that will probably sound awful. In 2000, people who voted for B* really didn't know what they were getting. But now they know, so that everytime a soldier get killed in Iraq now - their blood is on the hands of the repug voters, as well as the blood of all the innocent Iraqis.

1. I can give some slack on 2000. This time however is different.
You are right. No need to re-hash the violent criminal acts of the last 3.5 years...

10. What I heard at work
I was shocked to hear kindly, decent folk (I don't know their Party affiliation, but they are in a union, fer Chrissake!) here in WA blithely agreeing with each other that a mini-nuke on a few Iraqi rebel towns would be marvellously effective. This isn't a military town, but a campus town. One of the employees sons was back on leave from Iraq, but could this explain such a demonic attitude? Kids on my school bus were chanting for BUSH BUSH (including the black kids!) when we passed a corner where people were holding signs near the polls. There is some kinda deep malignancy at work here. I know WA will go Kerry, as well as the Senate race. But these sagebrush conservatives have gone over to the dark side.

4. And the blood of americans in this country
Did you happen to read the entire 18 minute bin laden tape? It was released in its entirety on Al Jazeera.

I've had it! How can anyone vote for this man! This just proves what the europeans have said all along...americans don't give a damn about anyone but themselves and don't care about the rest of the world. What this also says is that the religious right is getting FARRRRR too much influence in this country.

I'm ready to move somewhere!!! New Zealand!!!!

7. I voted for * in 2000 and there's no fucking way I'd vote for him again.
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 10:56 PM by Ladyhawk
What's sad is that my family all voted for the shrub. I don't know if I can ever forgive them. I just want to find my bed and cry forever, sometimes.

How could so many people vote for him this time???? Does America have so many fascists? Or does BBV have something to do with it.

Why are we surprised * is stealing votes? :( He's a thief and a fucking murderer.

If he "wins," we MOSH to Washington.

8. I voted for * in 2K, and I made a HUGE mistake in doing so
I realize that, I am to blame for this fucker being in that office, as much as anyone else who actually did vote for him. He scared me less than Al did. At the time, I don't know what I was thinking, Other than he scared me less than Al. Looking back, I know it wouldn't have mattered, I know the Supreme Court put him in office. I wish I could apologize to each of you for voting for him in 2k, But I can't. I can only say that for the past three years, I have wanted him out of that office and today I did vote Kerry. I am not a freeper, I am a liberal, and I have been for years, He just scared me less than Al. Now I am sitting here watching people Die because I voted for this fucker four years ago. What in the hell was I thinking back then? I am sorry guys for voting for him the first time around, this time, I assure you I voted "left" (IOW I voted Kerry.) I am so sorry guys, Please forgive me. We are still in this thing, though, I am just coming out with something I felt I needed to say. Repeat this ten times PRESIDENT KERRY, VP EDWARDS!

9. My friend. I've apologized on DU for voting for *.
I voted for him because I was raised Republican. Even though I'd been drifting away from the right wing for many years. California went Gore, no thanks to me.

But my penance has been this election. I've learned. I've donated. I've worked for the Democratic Party. God how I hope Kerry gets in! Only then will I feel I've erased my terrible sin.

But in truth, NamVetsWeeLass, we didn't know what we were doing. Shrub promised to be moderate, a "compassionate conservative." Instead he pulled hard right after 9-11 and stabbed us in the back.

We can say we were sorry, but we were also misled. Remember that and don't feel too guilty.

13. Let's face it
Mr. Gore did not present himself well in that campaign. But scary? What could be more scary than the B.F.E.E. people with thier hands on "the button"?

12. You are right on the money
and that is all it this is about.

I cannot get over 1200 troops, 100,000 Iraqis.

I can't grasp the solemnity and sorrow those numbers represent. The hearts that are just breaking.

And here Americans act as if people have different hearts and eyes and ears "over there." I am so tired of this mentality. I am so tired of people saying "because I am X I must not feel the same things as you the Y."

You can fill in the variables.

14. Well said, miamimama
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 11:24 PM by darkstar
I gave them and this entire country something of a pass on the 2000 vote and the subsequent war. But this is our fellow citizens surveying the landscape and SEEING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG. That is gut wrechingly sad for me. Even if Kerry wins, and he well might, the number of people who are standing up proudly w/ blood on their hands seems unthinkable to me.

Stay strong.
