Why do the networks need to predict the vote?
Why can't they just report the vote? Excluding Florida, how long does it take to count the vote?

1. It's human nature. We're all so anxious!
And they get a scoop if they are the first ones to correctly predict. But I don't think they do that anymore...until enough of the precincts have reported.
