Especially those helping out for the first time. You are doing a whole lot, not just for your country but for the whole concept of democracy.
Don't forget to take a little break for yourself, whenever you can -- the day might consist of frantic periods of activity when you're totally slammed -- and then intervals of relative calm. Take advantage of them! You're not being wimpy by saving your energy.
If you're carrying snacks -- based on my own experience, you might want to bring a variety of stuff, not just sweets and caffeine, because a series of sugar peaks and crashes can be rather exhausting (and disorienting). Snacks are actually a good idea because often the refreshments promised by your supervisors may show up late or not at all. And if one of the opposition workers is suddenly in desperate need of a kleenex or a cookie, it gives you a splendid chance to demonstrate the honor of your side.
