How the media continues to do Rove's bidding ...
We here on DU know that Bush's ratings are dropping, with some polls showing him in the low 50s. He is increasingly vulnerable in 2004. Yet when I talked to my mother the other day (she's a Dem and doesn't like Bush) and told her this, she had no idea. She told me she was under the impression he was a shoo-in. And this is someone who reads the paper and watches channels other than Faux. The reality on the ground has changed but the media is still treating Bush like a popular wartime president. I wonder if they'll ever catch up. Of course, most of them thought Bush would win easily in 2000, too.

1. Media won't "catch up" because they're in on it
The "media" is complicit in this. They're job is to prop up the fraud because there's more money in it for them that way.

To the media, as well as the other parts of the monied class, Bush is simply a slot machine that always pays off big time. They insert their campaign contributions, knowing that they have a 100% chance of hitting the jackpot.

You said, "most of them thought Bush would win easily in 2000." Actually, they didn't at all. That's why there was a concerted and coordinated effort by the media to portray Bush's winning as inevitable. That way, the wind was taken out of Gore's sails and the stage was set for the coup. It's classic "manufacturing of consent."

2. You're right
they made it seem like Bush's win was inevitable which was Rove's tactic to demoralize Dem voters so they'd stay home. It didn't work then. But the media is even more in the pocket of the GOP now so I wonder if too many people will fall for it.
