I'm an inner city teacher, and I just polled my kids about Eminem vid....
I asked the children if anyone likes Eminem. They pretty much all raised their hands. I then asked them (did not tell them why I was asking other then curiosity) whether or not they had seen the "Mosh" video. About 75% raised their hands. Not only that, they started getting really excited about it.

I think this video may have a big impact on this election. Very interesting.

1. The video came out after most registration was done
So...it would have had a bigger impact if it was released a month ago

9. The buzz would have been lost if it came out a month ago
No, it came out at the right time. The Guerilla News Network, who put it together to coincide with a brand new CD Eminem coming out, knew what they were doing.

11. Eminem's CD came out a while ago
The "buzz" may have been gone by now, but the "buzz" would have motivated young people to get out and register to vote.

12. "Mosh" is second single from forthcoming album, "Encore"
scheduled to be released November 6. The Mosh video was not even complete until October 25th and was posted on Guerilla Network TV the same day, so it could not have come out a month ago.

2. I will stifle my hatred for the little puke until Wednesday, then.
What exactly is the Mosh video? I run from this fucker like I would run from the flu. Does he avoid spitting on someone's food in this one?

3. The video is one of the most anti-Bush things I've seen.
I don't really care for it, but the kids are going nuts over it. It has to have some sort of effect.

4. How old are your kids?
Eminem is a cultural icon for many teen/adolescents and young adults and crosses across race, ethnicity--just as other hip hop performers do. We need those who can reach this group, whether some of us are fans or not.

I have seen MOSH over the internet and have to agree, it is powerful. While I don't tend to be much of a Eminem fan for many reasons others have cited, I do agree he has talent-- Like Howard Stern, you either love him or hate him, but there is no arguing he reaches people. I'll take the help where I can get it. This election is simply TOO important!

7. I've also noticed the crotch grabbing by singers?

why? why are they always grabbing their crotch?

I've joked that they are afraid their ding dongs will fall off and they won't notice, so they have to keep checking that it is still there.

6. I think the timing can work in our favor.
The truth is that if all the new registered voters hit the polls, we're going to win by a large margin. But the biggest fear is that a lot of kids who registered in, say, April, will have either lost interest or slipped back into apathy by now. Mosh is a good reminder that it still matters. I think that if it came out TOO long ago, it wouldn't stick in everyone's minds right before election day the way it has now.

So could it have registerd more voters that will actually vote than it will encourage registered voters to actually go out and vote? I don't know? Is there a more convoluted way to phrase that last sentence? Probably not!

8. My friend's kids turned up the TV as loud as it could get
when they saw Eminem's "Mosh." Her second son, age 10, absolutely despises the Chimp.

BTW, I give him some anti-Bush pix and/or cartoons when I can.

10. I just looked at it on GNN (Guerilla News Network).
I can see how it might affect kids 'cuz it is kinda powerful. I don't much care for Eminem but I am not going to put him down for this one. I wish it had been released a month ago.
