Remember this about the * Inaugural Ball?
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 01:25 AM by Sannum
It was a :wtf: moment then, and it is a :wtf: moment now. It is still one of the tackiest things I have ever heard of

Remember This? How many tax dollars were spent to send a fucking bull to DC for a friggin Inaugural Ball? I just remembered this and I had to google it to tell myself I wasn't imagining that it happened. The Kerry Inagural Ball will be Classy and Elegant just as both Clinton balls were. I can't wait until the grown ups are in charge again. The Balls won't smell like a fucking smokehouse barn, that's for sure.:eyes:

"Bush's fellow Texans were putting on THE party of the night, with 9,000 people chomping on 7,000 pounds of beef brisket, 6,000 pounds of smoked ham and 60,000 pieces of jumbo shrimp. A Texas longhorn steer named Bevo, mascot of the University of Texas, chewed hay nearby inside the Marriott Wardman Hotel as visitors posed with him for photos."

3. I was there!!!! It was hilarious. However....
That ball was put on by the Republican party committees for 9 states and the $125 a head tickets. I got in for free because my girlfriend at the time's aunt was the Vice President of the Republican Governor's Association.

4. Poor You...
Was it as tacky as it sounds? Nothing like the smell of livestock at a formal event. Not to mention vulgar displays of Texas "Style":eyes:

5. oh yes. TACKY was the best way to describe most of the folks there.

most were from the deep south. So their ladies' ideas of looking nice are: big hair, lots of sequins, eyeliner so thick that it looks like they're seeing through two charred logs, and gallons of perfume.
for the men, it was: Tux complimented by ten gallon hat and cowboy boots, a fat stogie hanging from the mouth, and a glass of whiskey.

on edit: oh yeah, and Wayne Newton was the MC.

6. I come from the South,
And I am a minimalist when it comes to decor and clothing design. I am also of the "old money" outlook that money should not be flashed or flaunted too much. That is why I love Theresa. She wears the same outfit more than once and you can tell what she has is of great quality. Perhaps I recieved this outlook while working in the fashion industry. I have this outlook even though I could accurately be described as "po":). I have taste, so I can make fun of those with the big hair, diamonds as big as a fist, and cowboy boots.

It must have been an educational experience. You must have felt like you walked into "Dallas"...

1. Yes, that is the exact thought I had!!! "i wonder which is J.R."
I'm from Virginia. I see this horrible taste in fashion sense every time I go to the opera as well.
