It's a place to gather, share ideas, maybe learn a thing or two. That's all. We're not inventing new forms of electricity. We're discussing stuff that's on our minds and getting things off our chests. If you want to take us so seriously, then you are naive.

As for me, I often get my internet news from my local newspaper, or some AP headline sites (like Google News). Of course, I check out DU and sites like Kos or Atrios, since I can't find that news on CNN when they've got some asshole pundits screaming talking points at each other. I look all over. And yes, I shop at Wal-Mart occasionally. And I work for a RW boss - hell, my boss ran for office as a Republican! But I have a life outside of DU, and sometimes you just gotta work in reality.

I really have no idea why you guys over at CU take us so seriously. It's like you guys are either threatened by us or jealous of us. Let me explain this to you in simple terms: DU IS A FUCKING MESSAGE BOARD! It's an exchange of ideas. And with a huge membership (and yes, there are a lot of people that post here), you're bound to run into quite a wide range of ideas, wouldn't you agree?

The naive souls think that one person's thoughts equals a whole groupthink mindset. That's just lazy thinking, and utterly stupid.

Anyone can access this site, and a few mischievous souls can harvest whatever information he or she can from your postings, links, etc. All in all, be careful what you put on the internet, and especially here. Because it's not too tough for some asshole to find a bunch of information about anyone, going all the way up to addresses, phone numbers, and names of family members. Ever get harassing emails from freeper trolls? Be careful out there.

If anything, be careful what you divulge. Don't give out your hometown (unless it's a big city). Don't give too many clues about where you work, what you do in your off-time, etc. If you post pictures, do it from your own image server, like Photobucket, where you can do like one guy did and replace a hotlinked image with porn (neat little way to rattle their cages).
