Dontn't worry, I'm not going to print much. This is the heder to his op-ed piece today:

I often criticize statements by President Bush, so today let me praise some of his real wisdom:

2. Kristof was being very sarcastic--obviously so. He contrasted statements

made by * in the past to what has actually come to pass. Nothing new, really; just a good reminder of *'s hypocrisy and failed policies.

4. Here's an exerpt and a link. Did you actually READ the article?

• Oct. 11, 2000: "If we're an arrogant nation, will resent us. If we're a humble nation but strong, they'll welcome us. ... We've got to be humble."

It's a good thing Mr. Bush tried to be humble, or the U.S. would have an approval rating even lower than 5 percent in Jordan, and Osama bin Laden's approval rating in Pakistan would be higher than 65 percent.

• Feb. 27, 2001: "I hope you will join me to pay down $2 trillion in debt during the next 10 years. ... We should approach our nation's budget as any prudent family would."

But Mr. Bush, with the help of a weak economy, has transformed the Clinton budget surpluses into huge deficits. Since Mr. Bush took office, the federal debt has increased by $2.1 trillion, or 40 percent.

6. While sometimes I find Kristof hard to read...

his naive writing in the run up to the war and his pollyanna attitude towards outsourcing key to my aversion... This column is spot on!

8. Knowing Kristof, I DIDN'T read it

...precisely because it would be utterly typical of him to do it straight, and the subtitle played it that way. And I don't need any Kristof Coke-v-Pepsi, nitwitted self-congratulatory "even handedness" this a.m. thank you very much, which is his specialty.

I'm glad I was wrong. He also broke the Wilson story, so good on him for that, too. But he and Richard Cohen are more aggravating to me, at times, than Safire and Brooks for this eagerness always to find some nitpick on the Dem side that "balances" whatever GOP outrage they're discussing.

I've always thought the best case against Bush can be made by using his own words against him.

E-mail this column to as many people as you can. It's hard for Bush supporters to attack this kind of criticism when all it is is showing how his actions don't match his words.
