Why is David Dreier working so hard for Arnold?
Arnold doesn't exactly represent Republicans in California...why
is Rep. Dreier sticking his neck out (enough to be chopped off)?
I really find it baffling...unless the administration
has promised him something more than just a Congressional seat.

1. He's not working for Arnold
He's working for Karl Rove. They want California to be in the
Republican's hands - don't think it's going to happen and think
Dreier will come out with pie on his face. He deserves it.

3. Better yet: why is he invited on all the shows? oops! I answered
your question: because he works for Arnold. I just learned this acronym: SCLM="so called liberal media"

4. He does seem to be Arnold's official translator...
Too bad they don't trust Arnold to speak for himself.

21. He was on a local show with Art Torres (state Dem chairman) this
morning. Most of the show was devoted to the Oui interview. Whew; it was a heated battle. Torres is a pitbull, I really admire his passion and tenacity.

Later on they had McClintock on, who came off like a huge idiot. He tried to dispel the notion that one (particularly Arnold) can be both a fiscal conservative and a social liberal, because "How are you going to pay for all the programs you want as a social liberal?"

Sorry, but as far as I can tell the "social liberal" issues in question--pro-choice, drug legalization--would require MUCH less gov't spending.

23. Dreier's rephrasing Arnold as a "fiscal conservative"
well, hope he comes forward with some real concrete
ideas on raising funds for the Prop. 49 afterschool
funding that isn't yet funded, as well as other
initiatives that only allow about 20% of real leeway
for the legislature and governor to really decide
the budget.

5. Because he's an opportunist!
Let's be honest here, if the Rethugs wanted to have a real principled conservative, they would back Tom McClintock! Drier is nothing more than an opportunistic whore!

6. dreier is gay, and arnold is pro gay rights
as a republican, dreier finally has someone who he can back that does not hate people like him. imagine being a gay person and a republican and having to support those who hate you for who you are based on other issues. but finally he has someone who actually likes people who are gay and agrees with him on other issues. also, remember that dreier supported richard riordan who is also a pro gay rights republican.

10. I see the connection
but don't think it's large enough for Dreier to
stick his neck out, especially against conservative
voters.

18. It's well known in his district and I imagine in DC
I'd like a pundit just to ask him on television.
Or ask Arianna H.

20. I would say it seems to be backfiring
Bustamante and/or NO on Recall (and Davis) are looking good. AHH-nold can't support himself if he's an idiot, and I don't think he's convincing rank and file voters that he's anything other than an empty vessel.

rally together.

the work his constituents sent him there for.

12. Yes, let's see him juggle this double committment...
guess that's fair to ask if he's still doing
the work for his district, even though he doesn't live there.
