Update from Early Election in Texas Just got back from Voting
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 06:35 PM by lovuian
Wow what I saw was amazing

We have Early Elections here

First the Line was large for an early election

Before I went in Kerry people handed me their paper and the Morrison Lady yelled vote for Morrison over Delay

But NO REPUBLICANS handing out brochures NONE!!! Only Democrats were handing out!!!

I'm getting the feeling that Republicans are not that excited about Bush and our not working very hard for him they don't have the stomach for it

HE IS COOKED!!! only way if he steals the election

The Group of Voters I was in line with

Black Voters great turnout
Lady told me her work allowed her to come vote today and to say thank you to her boss she was staying late tommorrow

One Girl was 23 and had never voted before. We were telling her how it was done. She said for her generation she had to vote this time.

Older Lady said she was voting to save Social Security

Thats the update from Houston Texas

1. Thank you. And Good Luck to Houston!
May you battle free of the unwholesome grip of the BushCo machine.

And send Tom DeLay back to the smaller insects.

2. Obviously you've been suckered

by one of those fake voting sites that the Republicans have set up for Democrats.

All the Republicans have been directed to the real ones secreted in the basements of Fundamentalist churches.

4. voted here in Florida too.
if this one isn't stolen, the shrub is going down the tubes LARGE. I waited an hour and a half to cast my ballot, it was worth hearing other people in line talk about the new President of the United States of America. Hell, I'da stood there as long as I had to.

6. Voted in Denison, Texas tonight.
Straight ticket, of course. About twenty folks in line at 4:55-very large turnout so far. I have no idea what that means.

7. Emergency: Election Day MOVED!!
Emergency: Election Day Date has been Moved by Voters!

During Early Voting there has been a record shattering turnout all across the state, and especially in Travis County. Looking at current turnout numbers, we fully expect to surpass 50% voter turnout in Travis County by Friday.

And we haven't even reached election day yet! There have been more ballots cast at the University of Texas through TODAY than there were in the entire 2000 election.

Because of this, we REALLY need to be educating voters about issues and candidates.

BECAUSE OF THIS, WE NEED TO BE TREATING THIS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28 AND THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29, AS "ELECTION DAY" AS WELL.

So begins an email just sent out by our coordinated campaign here in Travis County. Are we going to turn Texas Blue? Well, don't bet the farm... but don't rule it out either!

11. whoo--hoo!!
sounds good, travis county!! here in webb, as of this morning, 13K out of 97K registered voters have hit the polls (self included), with four days left of early voting. our gotv goal is 50K, so if we can hit 20-25K by friday, i'll be happy. :)

and yes, i'm hounding several people who still haven't voted yet. :) sure they can dodge my phone calls, but i do know where they park their cars (next to mine in the office lot) ;)
