Will the Second Civil War be dated from 11/2/04?
I really feel that everyone must prepare themselves for what's coming. I hope I am wrong, but I can't shake the idea that this country is going to rip apart at the seams next Tuesday. No one, on either side, is going to take defeat lying down.

The Republicans can't let the Justice Department fall into Democratic hands; as a blogger said, somewhere, if the DOJ goes to the Democrats, the Republican leadership is screwed and they know it. It won't matter if all of them are pardoned, the hit to the Pug Party will be near fatal. Also the Fundie morans think that this is the "END TIMES" and anything goes...

No Democrat will believe that Bush won the election, period.

This is going to be very, very ugly - we cannot give in because the neorepugs won't - ever.

Not doom and gloom, just Cassandra hoping someone listens...

3. somehow i think it's too early to be talking in these terms...
.....but I really think we ought to just win the goddamn election and THEN see what happens next.
I think a lot of people, even people now Bush supporters, will be calmed when they see Kerry IS a statesman. And the Evil crime family will gradually be exposed and banished without having to take up arms.....I hope.
I'm not going for the permit-to-carry just yet, anyway....

4. Our best hope is HUGE turnout and overwhelming victory....
an unexpected landslide of 1984 proportions. Just call me Pollyanna, Cassandra. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Realistically? Endless litigation, another Supreme Court installation of the Chimp, bitter and resentful Democrats, vengeful and triumphant Repukes. :scared:

5. screw it...let's just cancel the elections
and run and hide under a rock...

What do you think would happen if Kerry wins by 50 electoral votes and 7% on the popular? You think that the neo-cons can fight that? I think not. And vice versa...

For all the fears that are out there...the biggest one should be that all of our wonderful technology will go faulty on Nov 2 @ 7:00AM.

There will lawsuits...but none of the doom and gloom you are thinking will come...betcha $5.00.

9. I hope you are right.
I predict that you're wrong. We'll just wait and see. Describe the scene as the Repubs nobly accept defeat. I simply can't envision it.

7. honestly
I really don't see it. Maybe it's because where I am from but I think people will just roll over and say whatever. Democratic leadership is too weak and afraid to assert themselves. If Bush steals the election again it would be no big deal to anyone but us on this board. I honestly believe the masses are that much asleep.

8. I can tell ya,
I don't know what criteria I'm going to use as a basis for my decision, but if the election is stolen again I'm not going to stand for it. That's just me though.

10. There will be no civil war..Unrest will start with Oil Riots.
When the economy melts down due to the ramifications of Peak Oil, and Gas is above $5 a gallon, thus causing our economy to sink into depression, and they are drafting out children for the continuing Oil Wars, maybe there will finally be civil unrest. I don't see it until then. We are severely brainwashed and pacified as a nation.

11. I have had this nagging feeling, especially when I read posts
about the low-grade harassment being conducted, e.g., yard-signs stolen, cars keyed, and so on, that Americans have lost the bond of 'civil comity' that used to prevail.

I too hope I'm wrong, but I do think it would be prudent to expect a period of 'civil unrest', in not outright civil war.
