Do Republicans really hate lawyers?

They seem to use an awful lot of them, especially around election time or when they don't want certain documents to become public. By the way, who do you think files more "frivolous" lawsuits; Democrats or Republicans?

or corporate lawyers (usually the low end of the talent pool).

When they want to sue someone for using freedom of speech?
When they want to sue someone claiming their OWN freedom of speech is being suppressed?
When they want to fight environmental restrictions?
When they want to fight worker rights?
When they see any way of stealing another million bucks or so?

THEN they don't seem to mind lawyers much.

Repugs are for everything corporate. The only people capable or inclined to hurt corporations are lawyers. Hence, they hate lawyers.

For instance, Edwards is an evil "trial lawyer." Mel Martinez, who is running for Bob Graham's senate seat, who is a trial lawyer, is "a brave Cuban American who has overcome unbeatable odds." Republicans go whichever way benefits them. Life is a cost/benefit ratio game to those people. If it makes them richer or gives them more power, they will be for it. If it cuts into their power and wealth, they are against it.

that has been around for ages (google "lawyer jokes and you'll see what I mean), I'd say the "dislike" transcends political parties.

Even Shakespeare (and I can't remember the play at the moment) had a quote, "First let's kill all the lawyers."

The selfrighteous despise them- until they screw up their lives badly enough, and then they run to them because they need them without a bit of shame. The reason these people hate and fear lawyers and hookers is because secretly they feel weak and dependent on them.

No, of course they don't hate lawyers. If there ever was an Establishment job, it's being the legal "counsel" of a crappy big corporation that makes decent profit despite its screwup of a CEO who has become utterly dependent on his "counsel".

The vast majority of lawsuits are by corporations. So it seems the
entire court system is a form of corporate welfare, and i guess that
makes republicans squeemish to start with. As they feel weakness,
they attack, so it does not suprise me they attack there.

Class action lawsuits on behalf of individuals demanding their civil
rights from corporations really are a small slice of the pie, and
they hold this part up, as "frivolous".

Why do they hate lawyers? I think that it is because the congress
is failed, due to corporate lobbiests, that our democratic
legislatures cannot be trusted to legislate the law, so that law
ends up being made in the courtroom instead. No law is currently
protecting americans from "mad cow" infection, as it would involve
serious legislation regulating the livestock and butcher professions.
Instead, look for some relatives of people who've died from CJD
(the human variation of mad cow) to sue the industry. Its all so
frustrating, as justice fails to be proactive, and there are those
"lawywers" collecting big fees for what should be common sense law
to start with.

It seems that the hatred of lawyers is the futile admission that
the congress is institutionally corrupt and incompetent. As the
congress "IS" republican, they attempt to transfer the hatred outside
their own circle by externalization.

Externalization takes the internal phobias, and transfers them on to
external people and institutions. Everyone has inside them a little
bit of homosexuality. Men know a beautiful man, and women know a
beautiful woman. To recognize this, for a republican is fear and,
"dirty", so they externalize it as hatred on to gay people. Somehow,
if they can kill all gay people, they feel their own feelings of
attraction for their same sex will be erased. This attempt to
externalize 'percieved' evil, separate it from ones own very self, and destroy it
is the core fallacy of the pukes. It is wholly juvenile and should
be no where near government.

That's my theory for why they hate lawyers (Besides that laywers are
the largest democratic party doners, and 2nd largest GOP doners).
