Because Bush is a cipher, Rove and others had to manufacture a
grandiose persona for him. This required them to doctor all his arrest records, erase his AWOL records, conceal his drinking and drug habits,
cook up his CEO experience, hide his stock scams at Harken and Arbusto, hide the way he used his Governor's job to put his buddy Tom Hicks' hands in the University of Texas Endowment funds to buy himself a baseball team, manufacture a Terror War so he can pose as a
leader in the mold of Churchill etc.etc.

If he had been a man of character, like John Kerry or John Edwards, none of these would have been necessary and the world could have been spared countless deaths for this exercise in futility.Americans could have had better healthcare, better environmental protection, lower gasoline prices, lower debt, a balanced budget and so on.

It would require a Shakespearean scholar to untangle this mess and to let us know what the small ego of a low life crook can do to a nation and the world.

1. He is definitely a creation..................
of the right wing extremists in the country. They needed someone who was malleable, who would do what ever they said, who's ego was was so much bigger than his brain that it could only be expressed in terms of Scientific Notation, to be their man.
Bush was their dream candidate. As you said, they did have to clean up his semi-sordid past, sweep a lot of things under many rugs, but in the end, after "finding the lord" which absolves anyone from past indiscretions, they had a candidate that was made (literally) for
promoting the neo-conservative agenda.
He could never stand on his own, he's a hollow, vapid, immature straw man that depends on his underling to constantly prop him up. That the American people bought into this scam says quite a bit about the state of politics in our country. Form over function, they bought it lock, stack and barrel.
Now we have function over form in John Kerry. Let's hope that a vast majority of people realize this before November 2 and send the cardboard cut out that's been masquerading as President for the last 3 3/4 years back to Texas where he can do much less harm to our Country.

2. The manufacture of a fake religious persona for a man who cares very
little for such things was the shrewdest move on the part of Rove.At once it managed to erase the grisly past of Bush and made asking questions about this past look sleazy against a supposedly penitent man.

6. Right From The Start
4 years ago this was so obvious that it was like a solid piece of crap! 4 years ago, if you watched any of the debates, * couldn't take his eyes off his notes. If what he said was from his own thoughts, he wouldn't have had to read them from a piece of paper.

Pure plastic replica of a human being.

3. Talk about making a career for yourself...
now they can spend the rest of their productive years covering up the dung heap he leaves behind.

4. even more pathetic
The manufacture of a fake religious persona for a man who cares very little for such things was the shrewdest move on the part of Rove.

And he doesn't use it as a mere dodge for bush's past sins, he uses it to rationalize his idiotic maneuvers as the nation's leader! Now any of his dumb moves were because "God told me."

5. And the phoney ranch in Crawford purchased for the 2000
elections to give Dubya that working-man, "son of the soil" appearance that really seems to strike a chord with the zombified, propagandized masses who so easily believe that image is reality.
