Clinton - "Leader of the ENTIRE world"
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 07:20 PM by Soup Bean
Crawford on Olberman's "Countdown"....UN SG stuff. :)

This is soooo cool!!!!

On edit, Newsweek pollster Craig Crawford says that Kerry and Clinton have discussed nominating Clinton for SG in 2006. Crawford said it would be a unique way of Kerry saying "a vote for John Kerry is a vote for Clinton running the UN".

He also said since it has been proven that we need the UN in formulation of US foreign policy, this might be the only way to get a majority of the American people to believe in multilateralism again.

LOL...the American Right has really created their NEMESIS.

1. You beat me to it! Maybe there really is some truth to the rumor
about the big dawg going after the UN position. If so, then it is more imperative than ever that Kerry be elected. If Clinton in the UN is the goal, then I don't have any fears at all that Kerry will oust bush. Its all over with but the shouting.

3. Smart thinking....:)
I think this is the plan, for better or worse, depending on your view of the world.

Fun. At least we'll all have something to talk about. What would the dynamics of the UN and the US be like if something like President Kerry and Secretary General Clinton actually wind up existing?

be SG of the UN! (By tradition, no one from any of the permanent members of the Security Council has taken the job...)
However, he did reiterate that Kerry has said he would like to have Clinton work on international issues...

6. Why not?
The coverage on the Olbermann show was very positive about the possibility.

7. Its a bit much
Clinton should decline such an offer. American domnation of the UN
will defeat the objective of engagement with the rest of the world
we've pissed on these past 4 years.... better to be more subtle.

I'm not voting kerry so that these neoliberal imperialists can
hyjakk the vote to do this america-hard-domination thing. How about
we let Mr. Clinton work behind the scenes using his brilliant
influence, and promote a foreign ally to SG... (NOT blair either,
but perhaps someone like Thabo Mbeki... someone from a nation
that was not part of the british empire, or the EU... taiwanese,
Indian, Egyptian... someone who will unify the world rather than
further PUSH americanism...

THe world has suffered enough of american pushing... a wise new
administration would be discreet.

11. Happy thoughts
Agreed. :-)

The international situation is sadly, deadly serious after this
american war criminal. Overdoing it would be a grave error of
judgement... discretion has been so sorely lacking in american
politics. I hope Mr. Kerry revives the concept when he takes over
next year.

10. No way. Too many good people out there like Mary Robinson.
Not that Clinton could ever get it, but there are fine people from small nations that are much better qualified.

Putting an American in as SG would only invite indignation from the rest of the world.
