Unlike that overall majority of the 200+ people I have registered to vote, he was not a college student.
I am not sure why he was on campus, but he saw our Kerry table and asked if he could register to vote.
I was quick to give him one, we he filled it out and when I told him may father marched with MLK when he was 13 (fathom the ass whipping he got for being white and marching with MLK, my dad comes from a very racist family) Mr. Gibson said I was all right with him. We had a good talk and his hatred for Bush was considerable.
While looking over the registration form, I overlooked that he had forgotten to put his social security #. It was the last day to turn in the forms and when I went to turn it in the clerk rejected the form, which I think is illegal, BTW. I know that the form had his contact information and even though I was unable to get him, the office is required by law to correct any simple errors on a registration form.
I decided that I would just mail it in since all of his info was there and it is their job! I think that the only reason it was returned in the first place was because I was wearing my Kerry button.
Anyway long story short I just called the county clerk and his name is on the roll.
I am so happy that this man will get to vote for the first time.
