I am terrified she will be drafted. I will fight like hell to create options for her to prevent this from happening. Ultimately after age 18 there is nothing you can legally do to stop them from choosing to go.
If he's a conscientious objector he should stay here and stand up for his rights and help change the paradigm by being present instead of leaving the country. Things change slower if the people who hold convictions flee the field. It must be emotionally difficult, I'm sure. I don't want to minimize that. I was a conscientious objector and stayed here. I would never have considered leaving. It was my duty.
my son is dual Canadian/American. He is on the first flight out. I watched my generation, the ones that did not perish, come back haunted by the experience, including my father. Let Congress go. They're so gung-ho.
