DCF lawyer says he's not an extremist (Ahhh Florida)
James H.K. Bruner, recently hired as a high-ranking lawyer for the Department of Children & Families, was a featured speaker -- along with subway gunman Bernhard Goetz -- at a New York rally that decried the ''tyranny'' of the United Nations and used a U.N. flag as a floor mat.

And a website maintained by a group called the Patriot Saints for the Kingdom of God on Earth, which says governments should not provide human services to the needy, lists Bruner, 45, as a member of the chapter in his former home city of Albany, N.Y.

1. The Patriot Saints are a very scary group
This is from their website:

A local Patriot Saints branch is designed be the most fundamental unit of government beyond the family.  It is where most of the issues of governance will be handled in the ideal society.  Very few matters will need to go beyond the local branch, which will be made up of 10 to 12 families.  It hearkens to Moses' concept of captains of ten, captains of fifty, etc.

Just imagine the hue and cry if a Democratic head of any government office were a member of a similarly radical orgqanization.

2. Ashcroft- Regier- Bruner
-way back when- Watching the hearings- Writing letters to congress about Ashcroft's eventual appointment. Remember being assured (patted on the head and told to run along) that he could perform his job separate from his religious / personal beliefs if there was a conflict.

When Regier was appointed head of DCF in Florida, it brought up the same hackles of distrust. There is an evil here that has gotten more than a foothold on issues and policies that affect the direction the country is headed.

Now this- *sigh* - one sentence from the article: "He also said such advocacy work is ''irrelevant'' to his work as an attorney for DCF."

Hmmm, where have we heard that before?

James HK Bruner executive director of the New York Family Policy Council

http://www.nyfpc.org/
The front page of the website carries this quote:

"The only logical solution to the
problems we face as a culture is to
return America to the Judeo-Christian
values system with which we started!
This world view bears the unique
stamp of the Creator Himself.
Our best hope is to reinstate
His precepts into government,
the schools and into our homes."

Dr. James Dobson
President, Focus on the Family

Dobson. (said in my best imitation of McGyver) and leaving me wishing we had a hate-spewing vengeful froot loop icon
_____________________________________________

In the section called 'Our Mission' is the following statement:
As cultural tides have changed, public policy in New York State also has shifted from the Judeo-Christian values once held dear by our nation's founders. This erosion of values threatens the structure of our society by turning the purpose of government away from the preservation and nurturing of the traditional family unit.

'turning the purpose of government away from preservation and nurturing of the traditional family unit' what the heck does that mean?!

____________________________________________

also from the article:

"Still, Regier's hiring of Bruner, who is not yet licensed to practice law in Florida, struck a discordant note Friday with critics of the troubled social service agency, who say Regier appears to be using the organization to promote a conservative moral agenda."

Gee, ya think?!

5. Thanks - and thank you for finding and posting this.
There's moments that just smack me upside the head and make me want to scream. The article you posted produced one of them.

Don't know quite what to call it. Epiphany is probably the wrong word. Day after day produces more outrage and anger until it's just a 'norm'- sort of a continuous hum in the background. Then I read something like this, and it penetrates the numbness of constant shock.

These appointments also create such a sense of helplessness, don't they? - whether judicial or any other branch of government - Federal or local.

Hard to type wearing the just too cool Spiderman sunglasses my grandson is insisting I need. - please forgive any typos this morning.

4. You know I was over there
at patriotsaints.com thanks to your post. I was peroozing (sp) although not thoroughly, but they want the patriot act repealed in it's entirety. We have some of the same ideas. It is extreme bible thumping but there is some stuff on there that one would be hard pressed to disagree on. One thing I found interesting was a quote on their home page by Thomas Paine. "It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from it's government." The also suscribe to the 9/11 theory to implement New World Order and one world government and alot of the conspiracies I myself suscribe to.
