"God called us to action" - Chimp today
The Chimp, in a speech in Uganda about AIDS:

"You know, I believe God has called us into action. I believe we have a responsibility -- my country has got a responsibility. We are a great nation, we're a wealthy nation. We have a responsibility to help a neighbor in need, a brother and sister in crisis. "

http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/wire/sns-ap-bush-text,0,7642828.story?coll=sns-ap-nationworld-headlines

God must have a hotline to Chimp's phone in the Oval Office with all the conversations they have.

4. Nothing against religion
I have NOTHING against religion.

I just believe in the separation of church and state.

Chimp does not. God "talks" to him and he then makes life and death decisions for hundreds of thousands of people based on his finding religion after being a drunk for 20 years.

Again, religion is a-ok by me - running the country based on religion is not in my book.

2. apparently God was ok with 20 year holocaust in Africa....
and now God has turned his attention to those Africans suffering the plight of a raging AIDS pandemic.

Maybe Bush was a bit stoned when Bono came to WH and Bush attributed Bono's pleas to GOD.

Or maybe Bush is a teenage rock music fan in his little brain and thinks Bono is a "God".

5. Did anyone MENTION that the House cut the $15BILLION
AIDS money for Africa to $2BILLION?

Oh, but the $15Billion was only "the upper limit," according to the WH. He could FORCE those Republicans to do the $15 billion, but he's doing what he always does...BIG PROMISES, NO FUNDING.

HE SHOULD BE SO ASHAMED.But he has no conscience. He and the other Repugs don't care about people with AIDS.

I AM ASHAMED FOR MY COUNTRY'S ACTIONS.
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS, and by the repugs actions, they & Bush just showed,"F*** you, Africa!!"

6. Sadly, the media drops the ball again
This should be a MAJOR headline today showing the utter hypocrisy and EVIL existing in the White House, directed by KKKarl Rove.

These people have NO conscience.

They SAY they'll do something and then when it comes down to it, lying as always, they don't.

Americorps funding is another example.

37. It's ok to spend $4 billion a month to KILL people,
but never ok to spend that kind of money to save people from aids, or fund education, or help people out of poverty, or create a real jobs program, or ............. 'cause those would be handouts.

8. Someone should ask him exactly how his god
issued this call. Notice how he uses weasel words like "I believe". This way, no one can call him on this. If he had actually said, "Gawd called us to action," it would be easy to call him on this.

19. good point
we all know Bush is deranged. Meds MIGHT help him (and, personally, I'd feel a whole lot safer if he was trussed up in a straight jacket and given his August vaction -- plus some -- in the psych ward at Bethesda Naval).....That said, I read an interesting opinion the other day about WHY (aside from psychiatric illness) BOOSH thinks the Divine needs his sorry ass to carry out universal plans.
THe writer was of the mind that, as long as BOOSH believes his decisions are inspired by "God" he can never be wrong, he can never be questioned and he never has to actually REFLECT on anything he does. "God" lets him off the hook....he's the lowly instrument. And this is the person running the most powerful military in the world???

Ya know, it seems they give you a drug test and a psych eval to work in a 7-11 these days but when was the last time a team of psychiatrists had a run at Blunder Boy??

back to the bunker, Batman........

It got him involuntarily committed to a mental health facility. Bush claims to be inspired by God, and he's got his finger on the button. Makes ya' wonder.

35. my point exactly
when I was a child, the next door neighbor husband thought he talked to god all the time. One night he BECAME god and tried to kill his wife and kids....I can still remember the screaming and the crying and his family hiding out with our family and the cops and the flashing lights.....I get a wee jittery when folks come along claiming to have that inside track nailed down :-)

(yeah, can you think of ANYONE you would rather have nowhere NEAR the football than Bush? Well, I take that back.....there seems to be a LOT of nutjobs out there these days -- Savage/Weiner for one.....)

23. This exemplifies the split
There are those that are ready to face the world in a mature and reasoned manner. Ready to realise that there are a multitude of cultures and beliefs in the world. That you have to defend the rights of others even when you disagree with their beliefs.

Much of the right rallies around the call for morality. They believe they have the one and only claim to moral authority. By claiming god called us to action George tries to tie this moral authority to his case. It is the collapse of civil discourse in our a civilized society. When one culture insists that it is the only way discourse is impossible.

God told George to attack Iraq? Well then God can tell Osama to kill Americans. George is a barbarian. He is dragging us back to a dark time. Enlightened people must stop him.

the whole whisking the chimp out of the country and out of reach during the crisis gambit has failed utterly. He only looks more insane and hypocritical, depending on the colorful African backgrounds to distract us from the 6 feet of manure the Bushies are continuing to shovel over us here at home.

Har har. God told him to...what was that again???!!?
Next time he calls, W, tell Him I need to talk to him about a little problem I have with the ILLEGAL ADMINISTRATION He put in charge here, ok? Unlike Bushie, I never actually get the Big Guy to talk to me!

- These are not the words of a sane person. What if he hears a message to use nukes against the 'evildoers'? The mad phuck is already building 'usable' battlefield nuclear weapons.

29. Of course, his God is Satan
Or is that his true father?

Not sure, but I know they say the AntiChrist will convince everyone he is from God/believes in God/was chosen by God.

Now, I'm not very religious myself, but given the rapidity in which Revelation is coming true, I am not so sure anymore.

Here's one just waiting for Raygun's "death" in Oct. 2004.

"And they shall be made to worship the First Beast who death-stroke was healed (sound like an ancient version of the assassination attempt)."

33. Actually, I agree with him.... (shock!)
He's almost directly quoting Bono, from U2, on why the U.S. should help African countries and the AIDS problem. Somehow he was able to convince Bush to push through a $15 billion bill through an angry conservative Congress.
Having said that, I'm not so sure Bush talks to God every day, and I'm pretty positive that God doesn't tell him to strike Iraq or some other bullsh**. In fact, I recall Bush saying at the time that he had to "put his religion aside and do what was best for america." So which is it Dubya? I think you're just lying through your teeth again.

41. Obnoxious
Politicians who use religion to justify their actions are so obnoxious. At least today he wasn't using religion as justification for killing but leave God out of it.

If you're not going to blame God for the awful things then don't use God as an excuse for your thinly veiled support for a society who is suffering so horribly.
