A thought about some of the people that support Bush~
I had a thought today, that maybe some of the people that back Bush like the fact that he doesn't come across as very itelligent. Makes them believe he's not going to be able to 'pull one over on them' and it's one reason they trust him.

These are the same people that are 'afraid' of both Bill and Hillary Clinton's obvious intelligence. It's intimidating to them, and it makes them not trust Bill or Hill because they know they can be outsmarted.

I think I'm on to something, although I'm sure this has been commented on in DU before.

1. I've heard people say that.
They say they like Bush because he's not a snob and talks like real people, like themselves. Oy Vey!

2. I attribute it to Stockholm syndrome
or just the fact that Bush really doesn't set any of the policy of the administration. So many fall guys Powel,Rummy,Wolfy, etc.

3. Just a Joe
I hate to say it, but I think Bush got a lot of votes because he seemed more like the kind of guy working class white men would like to go out drinking with than Gore did.

There's a powerful streak of anti-intellectualism here in the heartland of America.

4. I don't get it myself
I sleep better at night believing that the President of the United States is smarter, more informed and all 'round a better person than I am!

Of course I haven't been sleeping too well the last couple of years....:grr:
