Ashcroft Taking Fire From GOP Stalwarts
BOISE, Idaho -- Even here, in a bedrock Republican state in the heart of the conservative Mountain West, a lot of people think Attorney General John D. Ashcroft has gone too far.

this sentiment among liberterian leaning repugs could make all the difference in states like NM, MO, MN, WV, NH and even (though its a long shot) ND anf MT. Asscrack's antics could seriously surpress votes for chimpy and Dem candiates should hit this issue hard.

3. Ashcroft's hiring should have been the first clue..
..that Bush's line about being a uniter not a divider and "changing the tone in Washington" was nonsense.

I think Rove would really like to throw Ashcroft overboard, but then that would anger their fundie base, so they are stuck with him.
