I just took the Bush/Kerry test....Results said I should vote for Kerry
My overall score was something like 46 points for Kerry v. 12 points for Bush.

I think the test is biased though in favor of Bush. For example, one of the questions asked if the 2001 tax cut you received was "good", "bad" or "didn't make a difference." But they only had two boxes, one for "good" and one for "bad."

I think we received like $600.00 back that year. My honest answer would be "didn't make a difference" but since there were only 2 choices I voted "bad." Probably most people would say "good," when only given the two choices.

Here's the link in case any of you aren't sure who to vote for this year.

1. also "tax cut ... YOU RECEIVED" asks you to vote selfishly
of course it also assumes you in fact DID receive one.
but it asks you to respond selfishly. the 2001 tax cut was good FOR ME in the sense that it directly lowered my taxes, in my case by around $2,500. but it wasn't good in the sense that the the economy would be better had the money been used to pay down the debt or cut taxes more for the lower classes. the unnecessary addition of "you received" asks you to ignore the effects on the deficit, the country, and other people, and respond solely based on your own, selfish situation.

44 points for Kerry and 5 points for bush*

Edit: I remember getting that $300, but if I recall correctly it was only a loan because we had to pay it back the next year.

6. 40 Kerry, 7 Bush
And I agree, the questions seemed slanted toward Bush. It made it difficult for me to finish the questionnaire "honestly" because I was beginning to answer defensively, looking for bias.

8. agreed. the poll is slanted toward bush.
particularly questions that are outright wrong such as raising taxes on everyone making over 100,000 dollars. It's 200,000 !!!

Candidate A says he supports free trade agreements so long as the trade flows freely both ways. Candidate B says he previously supported free trade agreements but now regrets that decision.

Oh, sounds like Candidate B likes to flip-flop...

Which candidate is more likely to get your support with regard to the global warming treaty? Candidate A supports the treaty, which requires American businesses to meet environmental and human rights standards, with a goal of protecting the global environment. Candidate B opposes the global warming treaty because it places tough standards on U.S. industries, but little or no restrictions on industries in developing nations, and could increase costs for American consumers and cost Americans jobs.

So, Candidate A's position is just based on a "goal," but Candidate B's is based on the "fact" that "it places tough standards no US industries... and could increase costs for American consumers...."

Edit: I just finished the test, and got 56-4 Kerry, even though I definitely voted Kerry on everything. This "poll" is bullshit.

11. How about this question?
Candidate A says that recent national tax cuts should be made permanent for all income earners and taxes should be cut further. Candidate B says that tax cuts should not be made permanent and people who earn more than $100,000 per year should pay a higher share of the tax burden.

Kerry said he'll roll them back for people making over $200,000 a year, not $100,000. I think there's a lot more people who make over $100,000 that might be misled by this statement.

12. Found some interesting info on the registrant
Still looking for more...

It's registered to PM Consulting, which is now based in McLean, VA. The address listed for them in Network Solutions appears to go back to a staffing company and may be outdated. But looking up PM Consulting finds a link on a directory of Fundraising Consultants

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m2519/is_2_23/ai_85532936

I'm trying to find out more about Brad O'Leary (the contact for PM Consulting on this page) and Tim McGinnis (the administrative contact for the bushkerrytest.com domain.)

He's the contact for PM Consulting, the registrant of this site. Check this out:
http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/0107/p25s01-usmb.html

He also runs a website called the O'Leary Report, www.olearyreport.com. On it he says he works for Republicans. There's also a link to another test like this, called www.bushkerryguntest.com

14. 71-4 Kerry. And, I'm not even a strong Kerry supporter.
I consider Kerry too moderate but, I guess, that says something about how reactionary I see the Dork-in-Chief.

17. The first question was flat-out wrong
The bu$h administration is NOT calling the Guantanamo detainees "prisoners of war"-- they are calling them "enemy combatants" in an effort to skirt both US and international law.

And some of those issues are just not important to me-- they don't even rate as "somewhat" in importance.

And finally, yes, the wording of this poll is definitely skewed in favor of bu$h.
