Brits don't trust Blair
More than half of Britons believe British Prime Minister Tony Blair cannot be trusted, according to a poll published a day after he dismissed claims of misleading the country over the war in Iraq.

A total of 59% of Britons believe Blair cannot be trusted, compared with 27% who say he can, according to a YouGov poll in The Daily Telegraph newspaper on Friday.

Blair put his personal credibility on the line on Thursday over charges that his government exaggerated the case for war in Iraq, saying he would have resigned if that had been true.

1. Blair could regain his standing with just one act.
For once, he should tell the Bush administration to fuck off. As a Brit, I'm sick of the UK-US one way street. I love the US as do most Brits, but we absolutely despise Bush. I would stand up and cheer if Blair had the balls to demand the US does their part on a range of issues eg. Kyoto, CAP etc instead of just rolling over every single fucking time.

2. It's way to late for that. They would both be up on Murder charges at
the International Criminal Court. Blair and Bush sealed their fate in Hell together.

3. Why does he?
I've heard Brits, famous and not, complain about Blair's behavior, but no one explains WHY he's doing it?

4. I wish I knew.
He needs to grow a spine and take Bush head on. He must realise that Bush is a fool, why Blair continues to placate him is a mystery.

5. He likes Bush's business connections
As long as the american president has big business on his side, Blair will be right there for him.

6. I think you are right
As another Brit, it is obvious to me that as part of the new Labour project, being a friend of big business was an integral part. All Blair's policies seem to have capitalism and the free economy as the fix all holy cow of his regime. Please let us have old labour back.

7. Blair needs to resign and soon...
if Labour has any chance of getting re-elected. From what I have read the British population are distrustful of Blair but have not yet put the blame on the whole party. If Blair doesn't resign, I suspect that will change and the Labour party will be seen as a willing party to the lies.

8. Unfortunately
I don't think you are right. The Tories are still have the stigma of corruption, Ian Duncan Smith, well just Who? The Lib Dems are still seen as nice but no chance. And to top it all off voter apathy reigns. Politics is dead as a popular issue. Shopping at IKEA on the weekend, getting pissed, music, fashion, TV, Cinema they are all talked about. Politics - nothing will change until the economy does.

By the way I want him to resign.

9. What reason have we got to believe Blair?
We have been lied to far too many times. And Blair is not going to start telling the truth just because Alistair Campbell has gone.

We need a government that is not about power at any cost to the detriment of all else. Because of this the needs of the country come second every time to Blair's insane lust for power. What we need now is a progressive government that stands up for what it belives in.
