Death of a schoolboy (Guardian article link on michaelmoore.com)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,3604,1028851,00.html

Oh my god. I'm actually crying right now because the kid and his experiences sound so very much like how I felt and what I went through when I was younger. He had a more advanced sense of duty than I did at his age, but I can tell you that I had many of the same ideals about war and politics.

I hope the ones who teased that poor boy have hellish lives for what they did.

3. Oh damn
When are schools ever going to solve the problem of bullying? Why should so many kids be miserable just because they get up and go to school in the morning? Why is it that even adults find kids like this little boy annoying?

4. Pre-adolescent and adolescent bullies thrive on victims and they are
relentless until they finish their destruction. Their victims are easy to select: anyone who is different from them and not in their group. The bullies are the tip of the iceberg. The multitudes who watch and know yet who do nothing to stop the daily terrorism are just as culpable. They allow it to continue.

The way I see it is that these "baby bullies" grow up and feel entitled to continue their pursuit of anyone they deem to be inferior and therefore deserves to be destroyed. Sort of like the present demographic that reflects neoconservatism values.

7. Smart kids really get nailed...
Sort of like the disdain the Pubbies have for anyone well educated, Hmmm?

May that child find peace....

5. This is the same sort of hyper hazing that...
I experienced in school. It pretty much stopped when I was 15 because puberty gave me a size advantage over some of the older kids who bullied me but the scars took a long time to heal.

It is a great argument for home schooling.

6. Seems to me
As in years past, parents and the school must encourage those kids that want to do the right thing to join forces to combat the bullying. It's actually a lot more fun than being the bullies. It is a form of sport that actually has some good consequences. It is like a school police force of course I suppose today it would be rather difficult to encourage kids to "kick the sh*t" out of the bad guys.

I always made friends in any new environment with the biggest guy their. I was a little skinny guy that probably would have been picked on if I didn't have the upper hand right away. Course I learned street fighting early and after almost pushing the school tough guy out the second floor window of the school, never had any more problems.

8. So sad.
The poor kid was wise beyond his years, but just couldn't handle the pressure. I agree-I hope the bullies stop and think and have to live with the guilt.
