Anyone want to tell Howard Stern not to leave public airways??
Is anyone else troubled by his decision to remove value from the public airways in favor of a subscription only venue? Is this just another brick in the wall? (not that I can stand the misogynistic creep fest that the show is)

1. I think it is a good idea
He will have more freedom to do the type of show he wants to do.

2. There will be no AM radio in ten years, anyway.
Internet radio, and the ubiquity of wireless access would seem to doom it except in very rural areas.

3. Howard Stern is demeaning to the public airways which are
licensed for use by the FCC. He's such a hedonistic, obscene bore. Face it, the guy is just plain "bad taste," period.

As such I'd favor getting rid of him and only avail him to those who pay a fee to hear such utter misogynist b.s.

. . . . . . .

4. This person is why Howard is leavign the broadcast radio.
Just like cable TV, if you want to subscribe to HBO to watch Sex and The City, you can. No more FCC, no more complaints from people who say he is too vulgar for radio.

Could this additional striation of the media be abused with a different content? "have and have not" information streams.

8. Another free service vanishing
Let's face it, broadcast transmissions are essentially free, except for a cheapo radio/TV and some batteries or electricity. It disturbs me that so many things are going to pay-for-use. IMO, this widens the gulf between those who can afford cable, cell service, Sirius, etc., and those who cannot. This is a disturbing trend.

9. This is exactly what I was getting at.
If knowledge is power, the big shift from public airways to private information streams is bad for America. (I had this feeling when "pay TV" started being talked about.)

11. i like howard stern's show
he hates bush i hate bush. He makes me laugh. He has been one of the few in media to stand up to the bush regime and for that you all should give him credit. I would hate to hear what makes some of you laugh.
