why aren't they trying harder to make an impression?

do they believe they have the election in the bag, no matter what?

do any of the bushgang look nervous?

I feel like 2 and 2 is not coming up 4.

1. I agree.

They and the GOP seem nonchalant. Do they know something we don't about the next 3 1/2 weeks?

On edit: Maybe the really are living in a parallel universe and just can't see the writing on the wall.

2. I think maybe the scene

from 'On the Waterfront'
Prince Bandar says--
"Tonight's not your night, kid."

I think they have got some big big problems. Bigger than some punk ass debates. I think Saudi Arabia is about to pull its money out of our economy. I suspect they are going to add them to their China clients.

They need an ally who is not scared to send troops into the fray, and both China and Russia have shown the will and even the desire, on the part of China. Imagine the Chinese economy with that Capital Boost.

If that is the real October 2004 surprise, it will hit our economy more like a an October, 1929 surprise.

World War 3.5 looks like this. The entire Islamist world against Russia, US, and China. Europe will get a walk. Asymettrical war, all over the world, aimed at governments and economies by crippling their servants.

Globalism is about to find out what it is like to have all the exposure of a state, but no territory, no tax base and no patriotic army.

I can't imagine that the Saudi family leadership is inclined to
actually go very far out of their way to help Bush... remember the price support promise. They now are against the house of Bush, and have used the chimpster to bring them (and by extension, America) down.

3. Voting machines
We KNOW they are planning on using voting machines to cheat. I think everything we've seen so far on BBV proves this to be true beyond a reasonable doubt.

This is where the real fight is going to be. I believe we have them beat in real votes already -- and by a long shot, too. The trick is going to be making sure the votes are actually counted, and making sure the media doesn't give them a pass this time.

4. Honestly?
Here's a thought:

Postulate: Shrub & Cheney aren't Incredibly Evil Dark Lords, they're just guys who thought they were doing the right thing.

It has become increasingly apparent that they are doing the WRONG thing. Yet, for ideological or personal reasons they can't admit that.

Think about a time when you knew in your heart you did something terribly terribly wrong. Maybe you were a child and you broke something. You couldn't fix it, and you were afraid and ashamed to admit it. You just had to live with it. You tried to deny it to your mom and to others because you wanted so much not to have done it.

Remember that horrible sinking feeling in your stomach, the way it wore on you, the way it made you feel physically bad? Being wrong and being faced with the sneaking suspicion and/or the growing realization that you were wrong is wearing. It grinds you down.

I think they may be going through something like this. I think they are tired.

Just my two cents.

have done that which was the short term goal for the first four years. The next goal for the next four years was more long term, to destroy all social programs by bankrupting the government. I think that they feel that one out of two isn't so bad since they are not going to live in the long term world anyway.

9. These people have given us no indication
that they're self-conscious of any wrong doing. And certainly no evidence of shame.

I don't think it takes someone who believes them "Incredibly Evil Dark Lords" to say that.

7. Nah, Bush would have been acting triumphant and smug
and more Mussolini-like than ever, if he thought he had it in the bag. Cheney would have been more defiant and snarling and basically saying "Go F*ck Yourselves!" in so many words.

I think they hate and fear Democracy and maybe don't even understand it very much.

8. karma bites back. this is what demoralization looks like.
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 01:37 PM by progressivebebe
they always struck me as weak. they are only "strong" as long as everything, and i mean everything, is stacked in their favor. when a couple things start to fray, they absolutely come undone. this is what happens when you live in a bubbled world filled with absolute corruption of power. reality starts to bite you in the ass.

i'm just glad they are getting a taste of their own medicine. we've certainly had to live with this sort of demoralization from the media and the outright thuggery of this administration. it's their time....

10. If there was any way humanly possible for them to avoid debates
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 01:55 PM by Monica_L
I'm certain they would do it. They don't consider themselves public servants and they've promoted the concept that they're not to be questioned about anything ever because their authority is not derived from we the people, they're the law unto themselves.

They've acted with impunity for four years while the media has looked the other way. The outrageous statements that come out of their mouths and the jaw-dropping, transparent lies demonstrate the mindset that they believe they're untouchable and/or above reproach.

In their minds, all of us are their inferiors and they should not have to explain themselves ever.
