The Senate is still at this hour debating this issue. Call now, do not DELAY! Let them know they are being watched and judged on their actions. Tell your elected representatives you will hold them accountable. Tell them to heed well the wisdom of Senator Byrd. Do not shirk the oath you took to defend the Constitution of this US. Be careful, if you are not up for election this year, you will be in 2006. DO YOUR JOB. Support our soldiers and make this country be respected in the world again.

MAKE THE PHONE CALLS, Make them now, Make them all night long. Fill up their anwsering machines, send telegrams, hold them accountable.

Why do I know about 2006, I had a staffer from Kay Bailey-Hutchinson's office tell me how I felt did not matter since she was not up for election in 2002. That was when we were calling to stop them from giving Bush the powers they did, that Senator Byrd fought so hard to stop then as did we all, how many calls did we all make?

1. Kicking back to the top, hope that everyone keeps this going.
I think our phone calls are what are keeping this debate going. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

6. We made it through this day. They will start again in the morning.
Everyone, it's not going well on the hill. Keep the pressure on. Whoever took the trouble to make the calls today, I like to believe we all made a difference. Cheers!! See ya in the morning.

2. Kerry should jump to the front on this, and lead the Loyal Opposition
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 06:57 PM by SpiralHawk
For if this Intelligence bill becomes law, then the Administration (BushCo) will have mortally wounded the system of three-part government (executive, legislative, judicial) that has kept the USA balanced and checked for 200+ years.

Congress will be voting to cut its own nuts off. But then again, since the Repubes rule the roost in the House and Senate, it is more than likely they will go ahead and do it -- a massive, bloody Congressional Nutectomy (Cojonectomy)

Kerry should recognize this immediately, and report for duty as a citizen and Senator to LEAD the effort to defeat it.

Make a big campaign issue. It is a winner.

Otherwise, this issue is going to go way over the head of the average citizen, who is already OVERwhelmed with a million other life concerns. Our system of checks and blances will get lost in the busy babble.

5. Keep calling. I've been out just a little while, this is a quorum call?
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 07:40 PM by anarchy1999
What exactly does that mean, I think they are calling for votes to take it to the floor for a vote. I'm not sure. Who else here can tell. I think they may be headed back in for more debate.

Someone inform us on parlimentary procedure. Thanks.

7. We need to keep this at the top of DU for in the morning action.
They debated all day today and if we start making calls first thing in the morning we just might be able to help Senator Byrd make this session of Congress listen this time.

Please to all you late night DU'ers, help to keep this on the front page tonight. Thank you in advance.

12. Good morning, USA, Please do your patriotic duty and check in with
your reps and let them know how you feel about this pending bit of legislation. No more blank checks. It is the Senators' duty and responsibility to demand accountability.

At least allow time for debate, they did okay yesterday. They need to hear from all of us again today.

13. The debate is still going strong, make the phone calls, put the heat on
your elected officials. We have a chance. If we make enough calls, with the election coming up we can stop this travesty.

14. Just finished calling them again. Go ahead, get brave, do it, it feels
great. Be sure to mention Tom Delay and his scandals, and Allawi and Dan Senor and let them know you are paying attention, their job is on the line. Maybe they may start to care.

Also be sure to ask them to please heed the words of Senator Byrd who spent a couple of hours on the floor of the Senate yesterday. Don't ignore Senator Byrd again when he calls upon you to uphold the oath you took to defend the Constitution as you did in October of 2002, this is your 2nd chance to do the right thing. This is especially effective if your rep is a lawyer.
