Some idiot just saw my Kerry button and called me a "flip-flop"
Yeah, so I wear my Kerry button everywhere I go, and when we all went to dinner tonight we had a few minutes to wait and I stood to the side near the front of the restaurant. I see these three or four kids (maybe 25 years old) and they walk past me and when they're about 3 feet behind me I hear "FLIP FLOP!!!" I thought my boyfriend was gonna go kick his ass. He went out and said something to them, but it got me thinking. I've worn my button everyday for months now and never had anyone say that...

What should I say in the future? I was thinking we really have no "one liners" like that that I can shout back at them. Well, we do but what would be the best to say in the future?

Any thoughts?

107. I like the "Yeah, the president sure is a flop" That's a good one . . .
My sister (who is a high-school teacher), plus she has a new vehicle (PT Cruiser) that is black. She has put all kinds of bumper stickers on her car (Bush lied, thousands have died) and the like. She doesn't wear any buttons to work though as that would be illegal.

The reason she is doing this is because during the last election she and other teachers were having lunch or something after a school meeting. Politics became the discussion and she quickly learned she was the ONLY Democrat in the place. She debated her side, but, of course, she was wrong and they ALL were so right and really ganged up on her. The next day she went into work, she went to her mailbox that is located in the main office in the school (you know, a bunch of big wooden boxes on the wall for each of the teachers). Inside her box in the "public school property" was a lot of propaganda for Bush and against Gore. Well, my sister is kind of loud. She said she just immediately started screaming (at no one in particular) "Who in the HELL put political documents in my public school box." This is illegal and I want to know who did it?"

Well, she took it out and tore all of it up in the office because everyone that heard her came in there while others that were in there just stared at her. During her trashing of the paperwork, she continued to say that no one had the right to bring such things on school property and if she EVER found out who did it, she was filing a complaint with the school board and, as a matter of fact, she may go ahead and report this incident. Well she said people started scrambling and didn't say anything. She said there were some that were pictures (from a copier) of supposed aborted babies. She later said that she shouldn't have gotten so loud but she was so mad she could not help herself.

So now, she takes her new car (PT Cruiser-- solid black) and parks it in the school parking lot where all her stickers and bumper stickers are sticking out toward the center of the parking lot so that everyone that pulls into the parking lot, has to see her bumper stickers and stuff every day they come in to work. I told her that people are getting their cars scratched up and stuff for doing this (that is why I emphasized her new car so much here). She said she hoped they did because that area of the school is under constant surveillance and, also, she was hoping to draw the idiots out there to do it. She told me it was a small way of getting her point across to all those narrow-minded, shrub-supporter idiots that will not even listen to reason.

My husband just got a new truck and I was going to put a bunch on the back of his truck because there is so much room. He told me puh-leeze don't do that to his truck because someone would scratch it or key it so I didn't. He loves that stupid truck too much.

I'm thinking of making a sweatshirt for election day and making like a collage of a lot of the bumper-sticker sayings and print them on iron-on transfers with my printer. Plus, getting a lot of buttons too. I wonder if I will be attacked.

11. Imma haveta remember that one
I like the idea of getting some Army registration forms and giving them to * supporters. Very important that you ask them if they support another draft.

"Do you support Bush." if yes, continue.
"Do You support another draft" (default answer is almost always no)

Then hand them a form and remember to smile.

I guess. I would tell them to "f off"; hence I don't dare wear a button. Yard signs and bumper stickers yes, can't take a chance on the buttons, though. Wouldn't be prudent.

9. My answer when anyone expresses disagreement with my buttons is
"As a Christian, I cannot support the lack of morality that has come to characterize the Republican party."
It usually gets me stunned silence; occasional bewildered looks, and once...just once...the opportunity to educate the idiot who asked.
Usually they're nowhere near bright enough to desire more information, which is, unfortunately, part of the problem with the ReThuglicans.
They prefer to remain factually unencumbered.

and can shout SHUT UP! to somebody or disconnect their mikes that it's just the way things are done these days - ESPECIALLY to liberals and Democrats. Therefore, they are frequently flummoxed when one of us gets back in their faces - nothing in the manuals OR the Kool-aid that shows them what to do about that.

I say IN-YER-FACE, assholes!

I ALWAYS respond. Mostly it's in kind. I had one condescending young trophy wife do that to me through her car window, one of those big honkin' SUVs in which she was alone at the wheel. She had a big bush/cheney sticker on the back, and we pulled up next to her at a stoplight. She smiled snobbishly and shook her head when I tipped my hat to her to show the Kerry button. So I smiled straight back at her, just as snobbishly, and shook my head in return. She refused to meet my gaze after that.

They are used to having a monopoly on the megaphones. I guess they think that's the way it should be. Well, I live here, too, it's MY flag, too, and those are MY public airwaves, too. And those people in power are supposed to work for ME, TOO, and NOT JUST people like her. I always let 'em know.

NEVER let the bad guys get the last word.

Was I screaming that I'm going to hide under a rock till election day? Was I saying I cried myself to sleep and left the restaurant all bent out of shape? No. I simply asked if there is anything good I can say back. If you think I should just leave it be then just friggin say that. Don't make ridiculous accusations when you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

55. You know what?
I don't know if you're a Democrat or not and I really don't give a crap. The OP posted a question and YOU berated her for it and I think you should apologize for being such an ass.

The Democrats have always kept their mouths shut and LOOK AT WHERE it's gotten us! We lost the 2002 mid-term election because the Democrats COWERED to this administration. They fell for the "You're either with us or you're against us." "If you don't support the war, you don't support the troops." The chicken shit Democrats fell for it...hook, line and sinker! and we lost BIG in 2002!

I'm SICK of being told to keep my mouth shut when a repuke mouths off. I'm NOT going to put up with their shit anymore and neither should any other Democrats. WE HAVE TO START FIGHTING BACK or we will live under a repuke regime forever. WHY do you think they feel so at ease blathering their rhetoric at will? It's because WE never said anything back, that's why! We always kept our mouths shut. The nice, kindhearted, bleeding heart Liberal. THAT IS OVER! If they know they will be confronted, they will stop. The last thing the weasels want is a confrontation. All they know is what Rush Limpballs tells them. They are not armed with FACTS....they will back down when a Democrat hits them with a few facts. Soon enough they won't have the guts to spew their rhetoric.

The OP's boyfriend was right to call them on their bullshit LIE. :grr:

Come November 2nd, that's PRESIDENT Flip-Flop, asshole!

I know the date is really January 20, 2005, but idiots swho have bought the "flip-flop" deal won't get it. Secondly, I know it seems like you wouldn't want to give credence to the flip-flop moniker, but it takes their ONLY line of attack and turns it against them. They won't say it again once they realize it's been co-opted to a strength for us (the idea of inevitibility)

His handling of this at the debate was great. Don't give it any credence. :hi:

37. Do what I did to my freeper co-worker on Friday
In his stupid freeper tone of voice he asked me what I thought of the debate, I told him "Its now obvious that * is a retard." He said, "We'll I think Kerry is arrogant." My response that shut him up and kind of pissed him off was "I think thats stupid, but everyone I know would take arrogant over Rainman any day." HE was actually livid after that, so I think I struck a nerve.

Not in the educated, intellectual way that your freeper co-worker probably thinks that Kerry is, but in a stupid, rich, privileged frat boy kind of way.

42. Did you call them just a Flop? :)
Hey! Friesians! WOO HOO!!!

Purebred? Not that their crosses are bad - not at all! :)
What discipline(s) do you ride?

I used to breed Anglo-Arabs for dressage, and have seen some very lovely and intelligent crossbreds, along with dressage by pures.
From what I've seen (but only seen about 5) the split Thoroughbred/Friesian is actually superior for dressage (IMO of course :) to Anglo-Arab crosses. Better even than the ever popular Warmbloods! The *Really* cold-blood of the Friesians tend to take away alot more of that high-end skittishness and the intelligence and willingness can't be beat!

I'm getting a Ster mare next year, bred. *can't stop grinning*
Hope her baby is a grrl :)
Since she's Ster and going to be shown with the foal (well that's a requirement act) of course I have to keep her either unbred or bred back to a Stallion (Kinda sad the US Friesians are freezing out Baroque types :(
But anyhow, looks like there's a huge fuss in the club in regard to crossbreeding; whether Friesian stallions or mares... looks like I'm going to have to sign an agreement, if the foal is a colt, to never cross him to any other breed. I'm not sure how I feel about this... good blood shouldn't be wasted, and it's not like I'm wasting a Ster mare with a cross-type stallion.

If you have any pics I'd love to see them!

I've been looking for you guys.

We've got an old Arab/Quarter horse, and a young Arab (both mares). Never owned Friesians, but we used to breed Percherons, which I've always thought looked like bigger versions of them.

Somehow, the world just looks better from the back of a horse.

On edit: just yell "prep-school cheerleader!" It's a cheap shot, but it will make the poor little manly freepers all sad.

The quiz was actually very accurate....My wife's was pretty close also. She was a badger..."ouch"... she does have a tendency to bite!

I went your webpage... I see that you have some understanding of hypnosis. What have you used it for? I studied the subject to understand past life regressions. I did have some successes... a very interesting topic..

BTW... I don't know if there is a minimum to get full services... the site has a fund raiser once every few months. I sent in what I could and was given my star!!

Anyway... it is great to be able to meet others that have similar interests and feelings.

The lady was wearing a Kerry button, the repuke called Kerry a flip flopper and her BOYFRIEND corrected them. There's NOTHING wrong with that. It was the right thing to do in 2004. The Rush Limpballs have taken over our political system and their dittoheads must be STOPPED, silenced, called on their rhetoric...whatever the hell YOU wish to call it, but they can't get away with it anymore. Nope. They say anything to me...they will get an earful and wish they had kept their mouth shut.

98. White Males, 20-40 Years Old...
They're the worst. We've been doing a honk-and-wave visibility campaign every Friday at rush hour in one of the most congested intersections in Cincinnati. We're getting a lot of honking and cheering, by the way. But it is the young white males who come through the intersection giving us the finger and screaming obscenities (while my ten-year-old daughter stands next to me).

Like Bush? Ignore us. Really like Bush? Give us a big "thumbs down" as you drive through. One guy, caught at the light, took a moment to make a homemade "BUSH" sign on a pad of paper he had in his front seat. I'll give him style points for that one. But I don't get the point of screaming "Fuck You" to people who clearly aren't going to change their mind because a twenty-something with no life identifies with George W. Bush.

And why would that be, I wonder?

Right after 9/11 Bush said catching Bin Laden was his number one priority. Six months later he said it wasn't a priority. FLIP-FLOP!

Here's the flyer I ran off to hand out to morans who use the flip-flop thing:

THE REAL FLIP-FLOP

George W. Bush, two days after 9/11, September 13, 2001:

“The most important thing for us is to find Osama bin Laden. It’s our number one priority, and we will not rest until we find him.”

George W. Bush, 6 months later, March 13, 2002:

“I don’t know where he is. I have no idea, and I really don’t care. It’s not that important. It’s not our priority.”
