Freepers Attack Me on Boston.com Message Board-Even Use My DU Alias!
Too funny! I did not post under RationalRose (you can probably guess which comment is mine-there are so few liberal ones) He doesn't even address what I posted! Please UN-FREEP this message board!

http://www.boston.com/globe/sunday/message_boards/070603/msg3.shtml

"The nine clowns combined do not have enough principal to be elected as leader in a dog fight. Rational Rose is wrong and blind to the evidence to think that the current US policy will fail in the long term. International prestige! Most Americans could care less what the international community thinks of them. Rational Rose are you also ignorant to think the US economy does not operate in cycles?

Bill, Kennesaw, GA

2. Yes, the economy operates in cycles --
down under Republicans - up under Democrats. Pretty obvious.

14. Does your theory hold up when you consider Carter's admin?
I can recall high interest rates and gas lines from that era.

I remember the lines in 1974 and 1975-Carter was elected in 1976.

3. Looks like you have a stalker
This happened to me on the boston Herald message boards a few years ago. Someone started posting under the name RedSox taunting me and bringing up posts I had made on the now defunct TownHall message Boards.

4. Kennesaw, GA is a freeper paradise
I think they have a law requiring all "heads of households" (obviously, the husband) to own a handgun.

9. I wouldn't doubt this is true in Kennesaw, but the PBS special
was about Rockdale County, which is west of Atlanta. Kennesaw is due north.

12. yes. Another lovely feature of Cobb County
is their "anti-homosexual ordinance." I think they made it illegal to be gay or something, but later decided against it because of the possibility it would affect their ability to host events for the Olympics.

Did they really pass that? I live in Fulton county and do my damnedest to stay out of the Kennesaw and Town Center area. Do you live around there?

5. My response
Hey, Mr. Kennesaw, GA, you are right, the economy does operate in cycles.

It does well under Democrats, and it fails miserably under Rethuglicans. Just look at past history.

And it DOES MATTER what other nations think about us, no matter what Pigbaugh says.

What a world leader thinks about us is the basis for him to LAUNCH NUCLEAR WEAPONS against us.

But nono, typical brash "American", not thinking logically, believing instead that the whole world is a Jerry Bruckheimmer movie.

6. Its.... "Could NOT care less"......!!!!!
When will these idiots get this right? If you could "care less"..then you care.

Look at the foolish provincial words of this low brow and ask yourself...should you not do as your mother told you? Consider the source and ignore it.

17. The Economic Cycle Thing!
Edited on Mon Jul-07-03 11:22 AM by ProfessorGAC
Boy they love that simple minded canard don't they?

The cycles are caused by extrinsic variables. Macroeconomies are not provably cyclic, on and of their own internal reflux. The cyclic behavior is triggered by things done by gov't or society, (or failure to do things, like the unregulated securities issues in the 20's). Or, the cause can be drastic changes in regulatory environs, or it can be useless attempts to regulate the economy with monetary policy.

The idea that the economy, at its glacial form of inertia, simple bounces around absent external influence, is as preposterous as suggesting the moon changes speed in orbit around the earth on its own, with no forces acting on it from outside. That's just silly.

But, the repubs like trotting this out, don't they? Next time someone says that, ask them to prove it. They can't; 'cuz it doesn't happen that way.
The Professor

how come the economy seems to cycle down under Republicans?
