I have a wonderful cousin who is like a brother to me.
We're both in our fifty's and he has season tix to the Marlins and Dolphins, but is still a loyal Red Sox and Pats' fan.
Anyway, the Game is either Sunday the 19th or Monday Night the 20th. He has the tix, and I don't have a schedule handy.
Well, I call Delta for reservations on the 17th of Dec, and a guy with an Indian accent answers. Believe me, I'm for all nationalities in America, after all I'm Married to an immigrant Filipino who is the love of my life. But, this guy on the phone is in India, taking a job from an American. I feel if you want an American job, come to America and become a citizen, and compete fairly for a job. No American can work for Indian, Filipino, Chinese, or Korean wages, it's just not fair.
He was a nice enough guy, and when I asked where he was, he told me "India". I asked to talk to a supervisor.
I got a sweet woman named Dianne in Tampa, and explained that I refuse to take my business to another country, and that I hoped she understood. The job I save may be hers, someday.
I told her that I know they have been through hell in Tampa, and then said that "I know you can't talk politics with your customers, but while I'm making this reservation, can I beg you to vote for Kerry?" She laughed.
When she recited my confirmation numbers and letters, every time she came to a "K" as in "Kevin" I corrected her and said "K" as in "Kerry" and "E" as in "Edwards". Again she laughed.
In closing, I told her that I am a Delta sky miles customer, and fly only Delta because they are Union, but I am disappointed that they are outsourcing jobs.
With that, she thanked me, and said that's not her call to make, and "Thank You for flying Delta".
Whenever you get a recording, punch "0" to get a person. Whenever you think that you have an "outsource worker" on the line, politely asked where they are. If it's not America, then ask for a supervisor, and explain that you can't, in good conscience, contribute to outsourcing, and you want someone here to talk with you.
What gets me is all these companies who pretend to be so Patriotic are the first ones to f**k their fellow Americans.
It just makes me sick.
Well, anyway, I'll be in Ft. Lauderdale in Mid-December and see my beloved Pat's, so I shouldn't be too upset. After all, the reason me (a working class Union Rep. IBEW Local 123) and my rich cousin (owner of Darcy Skin Care Products, South Florida USA) are for Kerry isn't so much a personal thing, it's that we love our country so much and hate to see it destroyed by those who care only for themselves.
