new local terror 'threats'

I was watching local news last night and there was a warning about a possible new terror threat against yellow school buses. Now I live in a rather upscale area of North East Phoenix, AZ. where there are a lot of 'soccer/terror-threat' moms. In my paranoia of this administration I can't help but wonder if this is a tactic to counter the possible effect of the recent debate on 'soccer' moms who are voting for Bush out of fear for their kids. I can see where this administration might try to bolster support this way.

Has anyone else here heard strange, new terror threats being put out by your local Dept. of Public Safety?

2. Hey, I doubt anybody would flame you for that.

Plenty of us in 'swing states' know that the money allocated for so-called 'homeland security' has been pitched heavily in our direction. A couple of months ago, medium-sized cities in Ohio were running chem attack drills on their HS funding. What other reason could there be but to scare the crap out of people and hope being scared would encourage them to vote for Bush*? I think you're probably not far wrong that they're using that money to scare people they think are vulnerable to fear, which is just that much more disgusting, in my book, than the whole debacle of HS fund allocation in the first place.

This reminds me of the 60's and the 'commies under the bed' fear. We used to joke about it then when I was a kid. The mentality seemed to be that if we're kept afraid, we'd vote Republican.
I was brought up very liberal. That meant to read up and research everything before forming an opinion. To educate one's self was important in my family. I never trusted Bush; never voted for him. I never believed the reasons for going to war. I'm very afraid of where this country's going and it makes me feel like I don't belong in this country.
ANyway, I'm ranting and I've gotta go do some chores. I would like to know if there are any more strange threats being announced in communities across the nation. I wouldn't be surprised if something awful was planned or allowed to happen during this month just to 'rally us' around the 'chief'. Concerns me.
