Scapegoat du jour: "planted Iraqi defectors"
Just when you thought the Blame Game couldn't get more bizarre, the Bush Crime Family releases this little fiction:

"As evidence, officials say former Iraqi intelligence operatives have confirmed since the war that Saddam's regime sent agents disguised as defectors to the West to plant fabricated intelligence. In other cases, Baghdad apparently tricked legitimate defectors into funneling phony tips about weapons production and storage sites."

So the defectors that the Bush administration believed were credible sources of intelligence (but rejected by intelligence professionals), and upon whose word built their case for war (i.e. used as a justification to grab all that purty oil) they are now saying were Bad GuysTM planted by Saddam, in order to trick George W into bombing his country back into the Stone Age, removing him from power, and occupying his country?

Yeah yeah, that's the ticket....

21. AMEN, tuttle!!! You got it.
This is hilarious.

It's such a rich story I'm tempted to believe it. It sure makes Saddam look smarter than any of that know-it-all crew, doesn't it?

INC funded by our gov at tune of 25 mil a year, chalibi criminal, watch documentaries of saddam they interview these embellishing self-serving viruses. Some are actually saudis and kuwaitis, total sham in my in opinion. Not that atrocious things didn't happen but some of the reports, PLEEEEEEAAASSSE! Only "useful idiots" believed.

6. So....does that mean that either:
1) You were stupid and you were duped, or
2) You willingly used the faked evidence.

Either way, they sound like they shouldn't be in leadership positions in government.

10. All the spin leads to those two conclusions
NONE of the stories they have concocted to explain how the US went to war on the basis of shoddy evidence avoid the two conclusions you have outlined above.

This leads to the larger question I have been asking about the Bush Crime Family administrations all along: Are they just incompetent, or is everything going exactly as planned?

7. Remember the Dallas episode where it all turned out to be just a dream?
That's about how bizarre this is getting. Next we'll hear that a fat guy on a sleigh dropped the evidence* down the White House chimney last December.

8. This has
to be the absolute worst strategy the Bush team could have come up with. I am amused and saddened at the same time. For them to think that the sheep are this gullable is beyond shameful.

12. It does however have one useful aspect:
...and that is: it could be used to explain why the *whole frigging plan* has exploded in their faces. Ah hah! It was a trick by the Evil Saddam, and George W fell into it because he is a decent man.

But even then, it remains -- why was George W stupid enough to fall for this -- when he has access to all the CREDIBLE inteligence reports which CONTRADICTED this nonsense??? In my view -- selective choice of "evidence." It wasn't as though REAL information wasn't out there -- it was, and for some reason, it was not factored into the casus belli.

But what would one expect from a man who says the War on Terra has moved to Iraq, and that our soldiers, who die daily there, are drawing the bastards out?

Things have really gone belly up since monkey boy's pantomime on the USS Abraham Lincoln.

9. sad...but it's a strategy of last resort....they can't "sneek" in WMD....
too many people watching and if it failed or looked bad...so they come with this lame excuse and go with it...

on some level ...they are right...the sad truth is people don't care...just bringing the troops home would pacify many.

23. They can't sneak weapons in because they tried... and it failed..
This story emerged initially via Al Martin I think..

To my knowledge it hasn't been countered yet. And if true it explains a lot.

Regarding this quote.. my guess it has been taken out of context. That said it is still so laughable as to warrant more kicking!

14. Bush can't be that stupid
can he? I never believed the "don't attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetance" but surely they can't be that stupid? Can they?

15. Yes

Bush could be that stupid as he is clearly just a sock puppet figurehead for the PNAC string pullers and if it weren't for Daddy's connections he would be lucky to have a job running a convenience store. No doubt in my mind however that even if Whistle Ass was taken in with the fake intelligence Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle however new exactly what was going down.

19. If Bush really believed Saddam propaganda
he and the whole team are dumber than I ever thought possible. Why would they be pushing this story? It seems like they would be embarrased to admit it?

They are saying that Saddam Hussein sent spies that the Bush administration actually believed were on our side, as if this was an Austin Powers movie?

They can't be that stupid. I guess they just think that we are.

20. If not for the very real agony
this obsession of Bush's has led to, the whole thing would be almost comical. Have there ever been a more inept gang of lying, incompetent thugs? Certainly, it's been awhile since a bunch this corrupt has been able to stay in power without being either ousted, or laughed out of existence.

The only things that make the Bush regime possible are the general gullibility of the American public, and the complicity of the press in assisting in the coverups. Add the...to the Western European's minds...religeous fanaticism rampant in the country, and you have the BFEE.

24. i saw that as well, and immediately thought.....
we're being spoon fed a bunch of bullshit again. There are evidently no depths of depravity this administration and the screeding shill media whores they employ will go to to advance the bush co. agenda. I saw thru it, but what really bothered me is that the sheeple at large would go for this manufactured manutia.

25. This post shouldn't die in the wee hours of the morning.....
It is relevant to what the bush regime is trying to spin and manufacture daily to us people that claim to be well informed. I was really struck by this info yesterday morning that was put out by the mass media whores of cable tv, and am frankly suprised that it wasn't picked up earlier in the day (yesterday) on this board. Maybe it is one of those items that is best to let it go, less it gets more attention than it deserves by being made a bigger deal on faux news. A real pity.

26. Who the @#$# would believe that steaming pile?
So, Saddam intentionally decieved the US because he wanted us to invade his country, kill his soldiers, kill his sons, seize his billions of dollars, send him on the run and end his luxurious lifestyle just to make Bush look stupid? That's like a rapist yelling "But she was asking for it!"

If the American people buy this crap, Darwin will be spinning in his grave. We are DEVOLVING!!!
