Bushhole LIED about Iran sanctions during debate.
He took rebuttal time to declare that "it was not (his) administration that put sanctions on Iran." He declared "that was done long before (he) arrived in Washington."

Fact: They renewed the (lapsed) sanctions in March 2001!
The United States has renewed a ban on trade and investment with Iran and is warning Russia that possible arms sales to that country could have "serious ramifications" for US-Russian ties.

President Putin of Russia said that Moscow would continue to sell arms to Iran following talks in Moscow with Iranian President Mohammed Khatami.
"The actions and policies of the government of Iran continue to threaten the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States." -- George W Bush

Fact: The US eased sanctions in March 2000
The US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, is expected to announce on Friday the first easing of sanctions on Iran after years of hostility between the two countries.

The US State Department declined to disclose what she will say, but confirmed Mrs Albright will make a "major policy address" to the American-Iranian Council in Washington.

A report in the Friday edition of The Washington Post said that besides lifting a ban on luxury imports such as caviar and carpets, Mrs Albright would also promise to take steps toward returning Iranian assets frozen since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

1. the way he came back to that - completely unconvincing
He sounded like a small man, weak, hiding, "not my responsibility".
