Just told indy friend & Anarchist friend that I won't be talking to them
for at least 2 months if they don't vote for Kerry and Bush happens to win. I will be giving that same message to everyone else I know. I honestly won't be able to stand talking to anyone who enables Bush to win and it will probably take me that long to get over it.

I decided last night that I will warn any Bush voters or non-voters now of this BEFORE the election.

My indy friend said "I'm not voting for Bush" and laughed - but I know this is a damned lie because she let it slip a few months ago that she "liked" Bush. She suggested that we all go to vote together but I told her that I didn't want to be around anyone who was going to vote for "that scumbag" or enable them to vote for him because it would make me ill.

I'm going going to put together a tape about what Bush has done to this country and told her that she was going to have to listen to it and that if she decides she still wants to vote for him - then so-be-it.

I'm sorry - but I've just gotten so disgusted with the thought that that creep is ahead in the polls and has a chance of "weaseling" his way back in by cheating and lying AGAIN that I can't even bear to be around any Repubs or Bush supporters.

My anarchist friend (who think EVERYONE sucks) had no comment when I told him that I wouldn't be able to see him for a while if he didn't vote for Kerry. I will warn my brother (another Repub.) not to call me for a few months also...

2. Good for you!
I've almost entirely stopped talking to my repug family. They just keep yapping on and on about why I should vote for *. :puke:

And I just keep refuting them with the facts.

It's sad that it has to be that way. I blame * for this. He's responsible for dividing my family so badly that we can barely speak now. If my family wasn't such big fans of the repug koolaid, I would be able to have a decent, calm conversation with them. :grr:

I guess.

7. I won't be able to be around them for a few months because I will be very
disgusted and angry. I will probably be friends with my Bush-loving friend somewhere down the road...

5. I came to the conclusion quite a while ago that people who couldn't
become more involved with poverty issues are not people I can be associated with, being that I'm in poverty myself. It's a clear indication just how much they are able to care about *me*.

That goes not only for more conservative types, but Dem politicians who have lost any concern for poverty, (and there are many!), and Dems of all sorts who just can't give a rip.

Some things hit us personally, and that's how it is.

8. THat may be a "presonal" question that Kanary may not wish to answer.
Many people who are disabled or who have lost jobs and are not able to find a decent job are living at a poverty level. Many people who are supporting families may be working a minumum wage or lower paying job.

14. Your vote is a private issue too though!
I've very uncomfortable when people confront me about my voting preferances. Your ballot is private for a reason. To hinge your personal relationships on politics is very destructive. Here we all know we are supporters, but in the real world people have complex reasons for their decisions, don't assume they want to "screw you" with their vote. You might alienate people who very well could be your biggest support net by being so partisan that you would cut off a good relationship for something so transient as politics. In 10 years America will be chugging along still and your whole world view might be very different. Take the high road and keep your friends, politics shouldn't be taken so personally.

15. It's the POLICIES, #$%$#@!!!
Not politics.

We will all have to live with the policies long into the future.

I will treat with utter contempt every and any one who helps put BushCo into a position where they will feel free to really fuck up the futures of the rest of us 98 percenters, in order to line their own pockets now and drive home on their goal of setting-up an inherited global top 1% ruling class.

18. perspective
See that strikes me as really deranged. You want to alienate your friends and acquaintances, limit yourself to others who can only regurgitate the hive-mind party line, and then wonder why you’re so alienated and pissed off. The parties are really not so different, but I guess you’d have to have lived as long as I to see how things really DON’T change much with either a Dem or Rep in power. The current war has really excited people a lot but as far as social programs go… it’s not like Bush is a small-government guy. Remember when Clinton passed welfare reform? Geeze the weeping and wailing…

22. Right now is NOT the time to be quiet. We are facing a fascist takeover.

We need to say who we're voting for loudly and proudly. It may help to influence people.

10. If you've read any of my posts, you know I am.
And if that sounds testy, then you know I've been attacked a few times too many.

On a supposedly "Liberal" forum.

And, there's no " about it...... poverty is grinding.

Careful what you do with this..... I'm in no mood for snarky crap.

9. Been There , Done That!
Wanna know what? People that will vote for * don't care if you talk to them or not. As for those who feel that there is no difference that's a personal call on your part. My advise. Better look for friends who share the same political views as yourself or find a new country that has those individuals that do.

13. Dont let your politics ruin your friendships...
These purists hanging around that say screw people that dont agree with you 100% are just intolerant fools. Its bad enough politics has to intrude on our freedoms, does it have to choose our friends for us too?

Just dont discuss it with those type people and keep your friends.

A good friend is hard to find and this election will be over shortly.

17. I have some repub friends.
I don't want to lose those friendships. It's true, I don't like their voting for Bush, but it is THEIR vote, not mine. I don't want to blackmail them into voting for who I want, that's what the Repubs do.

Everyone gets one vote, period. I don't believe that anyone should have more than that, repub or Liberal.

24. I'm just warning her beforehand about how I'm going to feel.
I will NOT want to talk to her for a while if Bush wins. I just know how I'm going to feel. I take my politics very seriously.

This country is turning into a fascist country and I cannot take it lightly that some people are helping it to become that way.

25. So, another divider, not a uniter?
I can't see how politics can be so important that you would shut out members of your family and friends because of it. If that's your way of trying to get people to vote for Kerry, an ultimatum, I think it's the wrong way. People don't respond well to things like that. If I had a brother that told me not to call him for two months because I didn't want to vote for his guy, I would be very hurt. Even if these people have different opinions and values than you do, you still love them, don't you? Is it really worth hurting them?
