Bush WILL try to ridicule Kerry during the debate.
We know this is his and Rove's ammo. Don't give people the facts or answers, just ridicule Kerry. Kerry needs to strike first with a nice dig. PLEASE, let Kerry be well prepared to face the chimp.

1. Oh, I hope so
That gives Kerry the opening to rip Bush a new one.
I'd pay money to see that.

2. If Bush uses the term "flip flop"
Kerry should start rattling off Bush flip flops and demand a response to each of them.

I'm hoping Bush becomes condescending - that shows what an ass he is.

3. I agree it would backfire on Bush big time because it would
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 03:49 PM by spenbax
point out his arrogance, which is one of the biggest guns the Dems have against the little weasel. I hope he snickers and laughs and shakes his shoulders up and down like the doofus he is, and then just have Kerry stare at him, which rattles Bush - hates eye contact.

5. An unseemly confrontation on prime time?
If it happens, it will be scripted to the second - so that Kerry gets cut-off or otherwise amBUSHed. It will be scripted so that Smirko can get away with it.

Kerry will have to be very very quick and very very good to break even. I dunno, but I'm going Upriver with him.

6. There will be no "confrontation". Everything is scripted.
One description I heard is Bipartisan Political Announcements.

By agreement, they are not to question each other.

9. Yes, I know, no direct questions. Still, an amBuSh is possible.
And probably fairly-well expected by Kerry and his crew.

10. The entire debate will be a confrontation
It isnt an argument or a street fight, it is a debate, and of the many dubious rules, the not adressing each other one is not particularly iffy. It is my understanding that this is a common rule in formalized debates.

Considering the fact that Bush has done nothing but tease Kerry for months, and Kerry has been charecterizing Bush as grossly incompotent, I dont see how they could possibly avoid a confrontation.

They will do plenty of talking about each other, which really isnt any different than talking to each other. You seem to think these two candidates are buddies or something, that couldnt be further from the truth.

4. We should have been doing this long ago
Kerry ought to use "put food on your family" or something similar. Bush has provided us with killer ammo, if we would just use it. He is pathetic.

But I think Bush is going to use it, and Kerry isn't. Shame shame shame if that's how it goes down. Ridicule is powerful stuff. Rush Limbaugh uses it to perfection every time he can't find a real argument - which is most of the time.

11. Bush's juvinille tactics are signs he has nothing to run on,
why on earth do you want Kerry to stoop to his level? Kerry isnt our serrogate to get cheap shots in on Bush, he is running for president, if he goes into these debates trying to be more like bush he might as well concede now.

Kerry knows what he needs to do, he needs to look more presidential than Bush. He needs to stand on that stage and show a clear contrast. He should have no problem doing that... not that it matters much, because the media will spin it to Bush no matter what happens, and we will all be realing when everyone in the US thinks Bush won.

19. Why? Because it works
We need every vote we can get. Plus if Kerry can make the audience laugh, that will go a long way toward getting people used to his personality. He is pretty wooden and serious most of the time. That doesn't seem to be playing well.

16. why do you have to criticize Bush?
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 05:44 PM by progdonkey
Okay, so he doesn't understand that singular verbs go with singular nouns; or that "wings" don't take "dream"; or that he was the one who "wouldn't let the inspectors in," not Saddam; or that we never found WMDs; or that joking about never finding WMDs is not funny; or that OBGYNs shouldn't "practice their love" with women; or...

He's just a down-home kinda guy who makes mistakes every now and then. Why do you want to bring down our Commander-in-Chief?!

But are there enough normal people for us to gain votes from ridiculing Bush? I think so.

8. bush looks like a petty jerk when he does that, let him dig his own grave
If Kerry fires first, it will look like Kerry picked a fight. Kerry should start out very professionally and focus on provoking Bush with the facts, once Bush starts getting nasty, Kerry needs to use it to get audience sympathy so that he can hit Bush even harder with the facts.

13. It'll be tough to hit Junior above the belt since ....
... his head's buried so far up his own ass.

When Dimson engages in facetious and fraudulent name-calling, Kerry gets criticized in the media for what he's supposedly done to deserve it. When Kerry accurately points out the abysmal failures and hypocrisies of this administration, he gets accused of "negative campaigning."

The post-debate "wisdumb" will be no different.

Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 05:46 PM by OneTwentyoFive
When Bush tries to lie his way through it Kerry should read EXACTLY what Bush said word for word. Talk about the MOTHER of all flipflops...

look into 9/11...that is huge as well.
