Just for the hell of it, I took some published figures and figured out how much it costs to kill a "terrorist" in Iraq. This would include children.

Estimates vary so I used pretty close to median numbers.

35,000 Iraqi casualties (10-55,000)


Using those numbers, it cost a measly $4,285,714.28 per dead Iraqi that we "liberated".

We probably could have bought them off for a bit less.

we could have sent an ordinary, garden-variety ghetto street gang to Iraq, let them bring their own assault weapons, paid them $1000 per hit, and not only have saved more than four and a quarter million dollars per Iraqi death, but also helped solve the unemployment problem. They don't even need training. Plus, we could have had a CIA front organization buy their airline tickets and denied all responsibility.
