7. meme is annoying poly-sci speak
It means "the theme that's being pushed in the election this week"

or
"the theme that WE should be pushing in the election this week"

I, for one, am tired of it.

14. LOL
I'm glad you asked. I thought 'eom' was a different way of using yoga speak to say 'peace' or something along those lines.

9. Trudeau used * for Bush in his Doonesbury cartoons
Commander Bunnypants is also Bush, but not sure where that originated, and Pickles ... no clue either, but they both seem fitting.

23. I think "Pickles" may have originated from here:
"Earlier in the day, the First Lady participated in the dedication of the library’s youth-services area by reading Picky Mrs. Pickle by Kansas author and illustrator Christine Schneider to local schoolchildren."

ignore in English but just one please because a dictionnary isn't very helpful. What means 'period' at the end of a phrase please? "Bush* is a dumbass, blah blah blah, period". It's a great mystery to me.....

22. It's a way of underlining the message... or simplifying it.
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 07:00 PM by Cat Atomic
The dot at the end of a sentence is called the period. People sometimes say "period" at the end of a sentence to express the feeling that they need say no more.

So if someone said, "John is an asshole because he stole my shoes", someone else might say, "John is an asshole, period".

Meaning John was an asshole even before he stole the shoes.

I understood at your first sentence ! In french we have the same thing. "The dot at the end of a sentence is called the period" !
Dot=point in french. "Bush est un idiot, point final."
Thank you very much, I'll feel a bit less stupid reading some posts from now...
