From the Laakeland Ledger - Less Than 2% Of Relief Fund Doled Out

A state relief fund for hurricane victims has collected $12 million in donations. But it's distributed only $200,000 -less than 2 percent -- thus far to storm-damaged communities.

Thus far, Gov. Jeb Bush has distributed $200,000 from the fund for education and health care programs in Charlotte County, which was hit by Hurricane Charley.

The Charlotte Local Education Foundation received $100,000 earlier this month to buy school supplies and equipment. The Daily Health Centers of SW Florida Inc., which provides health-care services for low income residents, received another $100,000 to rebuild local clinics.

Anyone know what happened to the $2.5 billion bribe * gave FEMA for Florida? There are still people living in tents in this state. Some still don't have electriciity. They just showed a guy whose home was destroyed by Frances in Melbourne - he's going to ride out the storm at home. His second floor was in pieces.

1. I would have thought those bribers and
bribees would have acted a Little Bit Faster for the votes in Florida!

3. Guess what Channel 8 just said. They said fewer resources.
Reporting from Polk County. Of course we know to expect power to go out.....but Jennifer Leigh just said the power folks told her it would be longer than for the others as there were not as many resources.

Ok, get me to understand that. Our 4th hurricane on the way, expected fully, and fewer resources?

So, why fewer resources? Why hasn't more help been hired on?

5. Doesn't make any sense. I had thought people were getting help
although I couldn't find any. Seems it will take months to get shingles back on roofs in hard hit roof areas. If they keep acting like this the repubs just might get lynched instead of votes.

6. I think it is a city/county thing.
Not sure. We just heard them say it again, very arrogantly, but they were speaking in terms of the power in the county areas. Inside the city of Lakeland, we usually get restored pretty quickly. Two neighbors are associated with the electric company, have private numbers to call...one is the retired 2nd in command.

Of course we are pretty close to downtown in an historical district, and that means they usually work outward...not always.

But why would the county EOC say they have fewer resources? I got chills when I heard it, and hubby heard it this time too.

4. This needs a kick for wondering where the resources are.
Something is not right.

7. Don't worry, the shrub will show up again and pass out
water and ice with his brother(but not until after the debate, he must prepare) and all will be right in Florida again. <sarcasm intended>

*&co. don't give a damn. Jeb and his mistress have to have something to put away for the future.
