Interesting E-Mail I received concerning Veterans ... GI Bill
ATTENTION VETERANS, SERVICEMEMBERS AND FAMILIES:

You may be eligible for up to $50,000 in GI Bill and Military Tuition Assistance.

As of October 1, 2003, Montgomery GI Bill benefits have increased for active duty and selected reserve members. Servicemembers can now receive up to $985 a month in education benefits with at least three years of active duty experience.

Fill out one simple form for Free GI Bill information and access to:

- The Insiders' Guide to GI Bill Benefits
- The Complete Guide to $300 Million in Military and Veteran scholarships
- Info on getting college credit for Military service
- Schoolfinder - now with over 4,000 schools

I don't understand what Montgomery GI Bill is, does anyone know?

1. It used to be $10,000.
Basically, if you go to college you get a monthly check. I received a little over $200.00. You'll also get your tuition reimbursed up to $10,000 or some percentage--5%, I think, whichever is greater.

2. What I found interesting was the three year active duty stipulation
National guardsmen can go to Iraq for two years and be in heavy Combat but never be eligible for GI Bill benefits. It used to be only two years as that was how long a person was drafted for. Since all volunteer forces came into being there is no longer any two year commitments I guess.
