Who are the Iraqi candidates?
These supposed elections--who the heck is running for office in Iraq? It's nearly OCTOBER, and they are supposed to have ELECTIONS in three months?

Are people registering to vote? Is there any kind of elections bureau? What are the offices (much less who's running?) What are the districts? Is it local or national offices? Are there laws about contributions to candidates? Campaign organizations? How will the balloting take place?

NOTE: I understand completely that there are no answers to these questions, and any elections held in January are merely going to be the kind of insult to democracy that elections in dictatorships always are...

But why not start asking these questions, just to make the point? Let's demand that the media start looking into just how well the campaigns and candidates are going as the election process gets fired up in Iraq.

3. Well, Saddam said
he wanted to run from jail. That's all I know about candidates.

But, hey, maybe when Chimpy loses in November, he can hop on over to Iraq, and run over there before January. I'm sure it'd be much easier to fix votes there.

7. Maybe Olbermann would cover this
It could be kinda funny. Running around Iraq trying to find out if people are registered to vote.

8. Wouldn't it be funny....
If enough people wrote Saddam's name into the ballot and he won? I'd love to see Bush's response to that.
