Christian Reconstructionists are **VERY** determined American Theocrats
Edited on Fri Sep-24-04 02:40 PM by BurtWorm
RJRushdoony's Institutes have transformed me from a pessimistic premillennial dispensationalist to an optimistic victorious postmillennial theonomist.

There are only two religions on this earth; Christianity and Humanism. Humanism has a multitude of various names, some even claiming to be Christian. But you will know them by their fruits.
There is no area outside of religion. Every thought is religious, so the question is not religion or no religion, but which religion? There is no neutrality.

"Repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ" is not a recommendation. It is not an invitation or a suggestion or even good advice. It is a command. Salvation is of the Lord and of His choosing. Those who insist upon "free-will" fail to realize they are committing Adam's sin; insisting that they can determine good and evil...They "choose God" not realizing he has rejected them if they hold to this notion and will not repent of their presumptuous sin. What is the test of whether or not we love God? see John 14:15,21,&23. The starting point of our thinking,(our philosophy),will be either God-centered or it will be man-centered.

The above is a "reader review" at Amazon.com for R.J. Rushdoony's "Institutes of Biblical Law."

Who is Rushdoony? He founded Chalcedon, a tax-exempt "charitable" institution--actually an extreme (and well-heeled) right-wing think tank--whose mission is to replace the government with a Christian theocracy. And they are slowly taking over the Republican party.

As the Yurica Report puts it:

If John Kerry has anything going for him that separates him from George W. Bush, it is the fact that he is not involved in the so-called "religious right" of America. This is the name given by the media to a well-organized band of fanatic biblical fundamentalists who are hell-bent on turning our democracy over to (their concept of) God. In the highest leadership circles of this movement, there is open talk of the goal of obtaining a theocracy in the U.S. Part of their method in achieving this goal is to attempt to convince Americans, as they have convinced Mr. Bush, that the United States was founded to be a Christian nation. The frightening fact about this movement is not that it is being pushed by an extremist wing of "religious" America, but that they have in fact to a large degree taken over the Republican Party, making it and its policies extremist. When their candidates become our elected officials, as in fact the current situation stands today, they have halfway achieved their goal,. An equally frightening and perplexing fact about this movement is that they call themselves "Christian" but will stop at nothing to get their dogmatic ideology adopted as the universal law. The most bothersome thing about this movement it is that their theocratic end justifies any means necessary to its achievement, including lying and cheating...."

6. Here you go
Here's a post I did on this a while back

on my blog:
This should make you feel good about the upcoming election....

Here's the breakdown: Wally O'Dell is the head of Diebold, one of three companies that sells vote counting software and hardware. He just had a fundraiser for Bush at his home, and pledged to deliver Ohio to Bush. Is that a conflict of interest?

Bob Urosevich is the head of the election division of Diebold. His brother, Todd Urosevich, runs ES&S, the company they founded together, which is another of the three companies running our elections. But that's not really conflict of interest, is it?

Oh, no. To get that, you have to consider Republican Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska. Chuck was CEO of ES&S just before he ran for office, and still owns a good chunk of it. ES&S was in charge of vote counting for that election. Now that's a conflict of interest. It could also explain why he covered it up.

To add fun to this scenario, they're all friends with, and in the Uroseviches' case, were financed by, one Howard Ahmanson.

Who is Ahmanson, one might ask? Ever hear of the Christian Reconstructionist movement? Here's a nice little article about this guy. Christian reconstructionists are those lovely people who "believe conservative Christians should take "dominion" over American society. Under their version of "biblical law," the death penalty would be required for over a dozen categories of offenders, including adulterers, homosexuals, witches, incorrigible children and those who spread "false" religions. They regard the teaching of evolution as part of a "war against Genesis."" Sound like just the folks we want running our elections, don't they?

This editorial lays it out nicely. No tinfoil hat or mass conspiracy necessary. Just a few guys with a lot of money who really, really want to take over this nation. And it's working.

Remember how the elections in Georgia were so surprising? How Republicans pulled off an amazing upset? They only pulled off those upsets in districts with the electronic voting machines made by Diebold. But that's just a coincidence.

Oh, and remember exit polling? That went away, right? Ever wonder why? The exit polls were remarkably accurate. Then, suddenly, they weren't. What changed?

The only change was the voting machines. And suddenly the polls weren't accurate anymore. Remarkable coincidence, don't you think?

22. Maybe our number one priority AFTER the election...
whoever wins... should be to pass legislation requiring paper ballots, like the Holt bill in the House and the similar bill in the Senate.

Then campaign finance.

Then we'll have a playing field on which to tackle everything else.

What do you think? This stuff is really scary.

24. That's one of three
I'm not as concerned about CFR, to be honest. It's a bit lower on the list.

#1 priority: the media. We need to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine.

#2: Fix the voting process. Heck, just adopt Canada's system.

Then we can worry about financing, etc.

7. Read what Theonomist Gary North said 20 years ago:
Edited on Fri Sep-24-04 03:01 PM by Minstrel Boy
"So let us be blunt about it: we must use the doctrine of religious liberty to gain independence for Christian schools until we train up a generation of people who know that there is no religious neutrality, no neutral law, no neutral education, and no neutral civil government. Then they will get busy in constructing a Bible-based social, political and religious order which finally denies the religious liberty of the enemies of God."
http://www.serve.com/thibodep/cr/liberty.htm

How far would they take it? Farther than a sane person should be expected to imagine. North again:

"The question eventually must be raised: Is it a criminal offense to take the name of the Lord in vain? When people curse their parents, it unquestionably is a capital crime (Ex. 21:17). The son or daughter is under the lawful jurisdiction of the family. The integrity of the family must be maintained by the threat of death. Clearly, cursing God (blasphemy) is a comparable crime, and is therefore a capital crime (Lev. 24:16)."
http://www.serve.com/thibodep/cr/cursing.htm

"The long-term goal of Christians in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of God by submitting to His Church's public marks of the covenant--baptism and holy communion--must be denied citizenship, just as they were in ancient Israel."

Edited on Fri Sep-24-04 04:30 PM by BiggJawn
I'd bet you have one on your board right now. The "nut" who spends 1/2 the meeting arguing over textbooks that don't "Tell both sides" of the Evolution Theory, or is a tireless campaigner for "Intelegent Design"?

Yep, that's them. After a few years building their resumes on the school board, off to the state legislature they go, then the US House, or the Governorship...

And when enough of them are in control of the Congress, they run a fundy nut for Prez (just like Dumbya) and then the round-ups and slaughter will begin.

Remember the Dominionist Creed:
"EVERY Knee shall BEND, EVERY Head shall BOW!"

It don't say anything about "Oh, except you Jewish, Muslim, Wiccan, and Atheist folks...That's OK, you have Religous Freedom..."

15. Paul Weyrich and the Four Immoral Principles of Dominionist Politics
http://www.yuricareport.com/Dominionism/TheSwiftAdvanceOfaPlannedCoup.htm

To get a sense of how revolutionary the political fight for power in the U.S. is, we need to look at a few quotes from what has been dubbed, “Paul Weyrich’s Teaching Manual,” the Free Congress Foundation’s strategic plan on how to gain control of the government of the U.S. Written by Eric Heubeck, and titled, “The Integration of Theory and Practice: A Program for the New Traditionalist Movement,” the document is no longer available at the Free Congress Foundation’s website for obvious reasons. But excerpts are published at the Yurica Report. The excerpts explain why the Dominionists are winning; the tactics they endorse are sheer Machiavellian:

I have paraphrased the four immoral principles of the Dominionist movement as the following:

1) Falsehoods are not only acceptable, they are a necessity. The corollary is: The masses will accept any lie if it is spoken with vigor, energy and dedication.

2) It is necessary to be cast under the cloak of “goodness” whereas all opponents and their ideas must be cast as “evil.”

3) Complete destruction of every opponent must be accomplished through unrelenting personal attacks.

4) The creation of the appearance of overwhelming power and brutality is necessary in order to destroy the will of opponents to launch opposition of any kind.

17. I might have to hit the Ambien bottle tonight
I am so creeped out by the Republican Doomsday Cult that has taken over our country.

And at the realization of how deliberate its been and how long and systematically they've been working at it.

"I am seeking to portray the characteristics of yet another mass movement in history in which there is significant sociopathology. A good lay definition of the term is "one who knows that what he is doing is wrong but he does not care." I use he rather than he or she or they since women have been intentionally excluded from leadership in the present movement.

A mass movement appeals basically to those who crave to be rid of an unwanted self. They seek a new life, a rebirth or a chance to acquire new elements of self-esteem, confidence, hope and a sense of worth by identification with a holy (read unholy) cause.

As with most mass movements throughout history, this one was begun in 1978 by ambitious malcontents who would never have achieved significant personal visibility had it not been for their vision of creating a milieu and structure in Southern Baptist life that would allow them to control and manipulate a large mass of people to satisfy their own unhealthy personality needs."

Excerpt from a speech given at the Southern Baptist Convention in 1990. Here we have an avowed Baptist tracing the roots of fundamentalism and condemning the movement.
http://www.txbc.org/2001Journals/Aug2001/801anatomyofillness.htm

Oh, and this tidbit is so descriptive of our stay-the-course Chimp:
"This is the source of the fundamentalist's constancy. He is 'not frightened by danger nor disheartened by obstacles nor baffled by contradictions because he denies their existence.' Strength of faith in such personalities, as Bergson pointed out, manifests itself not in moving mountains but in not seeing mountains to move."

23. Thanks for the links - invaluable information
I bookmarked the thread because I can read only smidgens of this stuff at a time. Religious wars inflame the rest of the war; it's only a matter of time before they hit home.

A few weeks ago, Mike Malloy relayed a story about his own encounter with the CR. I believe he was working as a reporter in Atlanta and did some stories that portrayed them unfavorably. After repeated death threats, someone in the police department who was investigating the case asked him, "Mr. Malloy, do you own a weapon?" No, Mike said, I don't. "Then I strongly recommend you go down to the police firing range and learn how to use one, and buy one, and keep it in reach. Because these people will kill you." The man was so serious that Malloy followed his suggestion. That was 16 years ago.

34. By what part of the Bible are they going to govern?
The part in which the prophets had handmaidens and concubines and more than one wife? How about the part where people with skin rashes are to be considered pariahs? Or the part where Jesus says "Render under Caesar that which is Caesar's . . . ." They can't establish a theocracy if they follow that scripture, can they? There is so much strange stuff in the Bible if you really stop to read it. It would be impossible to govern under it because of all the contradictions.

35. Welll, like the fundamentalist Muslims, they wouldn't let that stop them
There was a PBS "Wide Angle" documentary about a Pakistani pop singer who has been condemned by the mullahs there. He goes to argue with them, asking them where in the Koran it says that you can't have music. The mullahs insist that music is anti-Islamic. He repeats his demand for them to point out the chapter and verse where it says that. They can't, because there is no such verse, but they keep insisting, as their young followers nod in agreement.

I think a "Christian" theocracy would be something like that. At which point I would DEFINITELY try to move to Japan.
