18. I DISAGREE, I think CBS is averting attn from the real issue

The longer CBS drags this out, the longer ABC/NBC/WaPo/NYTimes/etc will continue to recycle this. Right now, Fox and CNN are pretty much doing minute-to-minute broadcasting on this, with only the occassional break for Hurricane Ivan.

Reports of Germany mysteriously relocating thousands of Jews were discredited - and look what happened.

CBS NEEDS TO DROP THE FORGERY STORY. If need be, just call the documents a toss-up and then move on to other supporting evidence.

The longer this remains a central issue, the longer Repugs will continue to raise a stink about it, largely distracting from the central issue.

Even repug political analysts on friggin FOX admit that Bush drops a little when our economy is discussed, and it by default helps John Kerry.

But with the Memogate circus going on, ask your non-political friends: What has John Kerry even been saying/doing the past week? No one knows because the media reports people want to hear about THE ECONOMY but the talking heads just report "that's nice Mr. Kerry, 45million+ Americans lack health insurance, that sucks and all, but in other news, what completely irrelvant bloggers REALLY think about the Guard documents?"

If we can just get past this stupid argument, we can refocus people's attention on more important things. I mean come on - at this rate, the election is going to be decided by the proportional Times New Roman space of a "th"!

...if advertisers' commercials are being seen by significantly MORE viewers, why would they cave into neo-con complaints to network affiliates?

Corporations won't pull monetary support on the grounds of moral virtue. They might even give more money now that more are tuning into see what Rather says next.

We would be fools to think that CBS is dragging this out on the sole basis that they think the documents are valid.

Publicity is publicity, no matter how you slice it.

25. The point is LIES> BUSH LIES - and that's why it's important

Rather is the first to come out and show Bush lying.
And previously he had said last year or so that if he told the truth
he'd be "necklaced". He was afraid for his life. Now he has found
it in himself to help save this country.

He deserves every kudo and support we can give him.

His having Killian's secretary puts it all back on track.

Not that it's a forgery, but that it is what Killian had said to her.
