LOL! Those crazy New Orleans folk.
Did you guys just see on CNN when the reporter was reporting from Bourbon Street talking about Crazy Ivan Hurricane and a group of people were standing behind the reporter just partying and cheering. And just when Woodruf cut away one of the ladies raised her top. She had something underneath though. It was quite funny.

4. Crazy is right!
My daughter's boyfriend is there- His family is staying.
We are SO worried about him.
I really wish they would get out of there.
It would break my daughter's heart if anything
happened to her first "True Love."

8. When I go to NO, a stop at Pat O'Brien's is mandatory. It's been a while
though, do they still sell those enormous (about a half gallon) size
hurricanes? :D
Memories. ;-)

10. You can actually get Pat-O's hurricane mix in bags
various sources online, just enter "hurricane mix" into your friendly neighborhood search engine.

When you're in N.O. you can probably get bags of it in stores. K&B used to have it, I know, but dumb-ass Rite Aid bought them out and then closed the one in my old neighborhood :grr:

13. Yep. I live near the old K&B on Carrollton Ave. and Oak St.
They even had a soda shop up until the early 70s that had booths with individual juke boxes. I used to love to play the old Motown musicians like Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye, or maybe mix in a CCR tune with some Neville Bros.

I still have some old K&B paper and purple plastic bags, and a few #2 purple K&B pencils from that era.

18. Hell yeah!
I live a few blocks from there. I used to play at those clubs (Jed's is long gone).

Are you still home, or did you take off? I watched the weather all night long to see if we'd get hit, but it looks like it's headed for Mobile... I hope they are going to be OK. Wind's starting to pick up here - I wonder how long before the power goes.

:hi:

My power's blinked once. I'm outside of Ponchatoula, you know the swamps east of Pass Manchac?

Now, might you remember seeing, say... the Normals at Jed's? Psychadelic Furs or Chili Peppers at Jimmy's? Who'dja play with?

23. Seen all of 'em. Were you ever around for "The Cold?"
I saw them many times along with The Sheiks on the riverboat President (before it left N.O.); worked with Woodenhead; played with the Bingemen; various vocal ensembles/classical, renaissance music etc.; more recently I play Brazilian percussion with a local group - we play samba, etc. for Mardi Gras balls, Congo Square; solo classical guitar... the list goes on. Some trivia: my cousin was married to one of the Chili Peppers... hence, backstage passes to Lollapalooza, etc.

D'ya ever see any concerts in the Warehouse? The last show I saw there was the Talking Heads in '81. I saw Devo that year in the Saenger.

24. I saw Dylan at the Warehouse around 75(?) and 82 (?) -
Saw Kiss there, too, first album tour (jeez...). Clash (unless I'm crossing that memory over with the Armadillo in Austin - think I saw them at both).

Sheiks, let's see, I remember New Year's Eve at a spot in the Quarter, maybe on Burgundy - that'd be 77-78. I broke a number of tables around NOLA-BR while surfing to the Cold's 'Theme from Hawaii 5-0'. Devo at Old Man River's (I think?), the Cramps and B-52's there too if I remember. Ramones at MacAlister Auditorium to a crowd of maybe 2-300. I remember when Tip's had a loooooowwwwww ceiling.

And YOU. I'm guessing you've played at Cafe Brazil. I remember a New Year's Eve at Cafe Brasil, samba-aplenty and Tribe Nunzio. I bow deeply and salute you - Bring Us Rhythm! Hip-No-Tize!

Did you hear about evacuating up? I guess they are going to have some sky scrapers open for people to go up if it floods.

15. Yes, very funny...
And if Ivan takes even a slight turn to the west, I hope none of these drunken idiots expects someone else's father, son, mother or brother to risk their lives trying to save them. The same goes for the kin idiots still out for a sightsee on the piers in Pensacola.

16. Yeah, that's really stupid, to go watch the hurricane on a pier.
Even a fish could become a dangerous projectile with 140/hour winds: "Man on pier gets gored by flying redfish... fish is expected to recover."
