Could we use assault weapons to hurt Walmart?
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 06:50 PM by LostInAnomie
Not literally, but since it is now legal to sell them a decision on whether to sell them or not could potentially hurt business.

We should find a way to force them to take a stand on the sale on assault weapons. If they side with the gun nuts it could hurt their "family value superstore" image. If they side against selling them the gun nuts would boycott.

1. I doubt Walmart will even sell them.
The Walmarts around here don't even sell post-ban weapons.

2. Walmart doesn't even sell handguns
They haven't for many, many years, if ever. The AWB has no impact on them, except for the fact they could now sell 25-rd magazines for a few .22 rimfire rifles they stock, like the Ruger 10/22.

3. If it did hurt them it couldn't happen to more deserving people.

4. They can and do order any type of rifle, as a legal gun dealer

5. FBI Files
last night on Discovery aired the ep about the agents who were blown away by a guy with a semi-automatic back in the late eighties. Felt it was a graphic and telling about the need for AWB.

6. There was no proof that the AWB lowered violent crime.
It had so many loopholes it was a major failure and deserved to die.

7. If you're referring to the FBI shootout in Miami in 1986
The rifle used was a Ruger Mini-14 and was specifically exempt from the assault weapons ban.
