Any Liberal Book Publishers ?

I have an idea for a book, does anyone know of any liberal book publishers ?

I am asking about liberal book publishers because there is no way a conservative book publisher would do it.

1. I don't think Book Publishers are that partisan
But I'd go get a copy of Writers Market at the Library and look through it, the most recent version--or buy one yourself. They will lead you in the right way.

It just depends on whether or not your book will have wide appeal. Like Ann Coulter--I can't stand her, but she's been very successful in writing republican screeds that are so out there that she attracts a fairly wide audience (even if many are reading her because they want to see how far she'll go). Is your book/subject the sort that will grab people? Or will it just attract people who post here at DU? If you can make a case that it will, than you shouldn't have any trouble getting many publihsers to print it.

3. Try this link -
http://www.akpress.org/

This is radical, not "liberal," but maybe it will point you in the right direction.

5. What's your idea.
I think a lot of publishers would consider a 'liberal' book, aren't most conservative books published by the same few compamies?

6. Try Seven Stories Press -- they're Noam Chomsky's publisher
It doesn't get much more "left" than that in publishing circles! :hi:

8. Prometheus Books
UK Link http://www.hutch.demon.co.uk/prom/
The US Link appears to be down but as far as I know they are still active, try it later at http://www.prometheusbooks.com/

This is the publishing company for the Secular Humanists. Since we find it difficult to have some of our works carried by the primary publishers we found it necissary to create our own company. Give them a look.

9. Beacon Press
You do need an agent to approach them, however.

10. you also need more than an idea...
....you need a query letter, a book proposal, an outline and a couple of sample chapters.

Most contributions to publishers end up reviewed by a college intern and thrown out.

Just FYI.
